Bart is a great tour guide! He is a native so is knowledgeable about the island and its history, culture and food. His food recommendations were excellent giving us a true sense of local cuisine from multiple places around the island. By chance, we got to meet his two young, remarkable boys and their grandfather while they were fishing. It was a pleasant difference from taking a large group cruise tour. We highly recommend.

BART was an outstanding guide. My husband was delighted to learn that Bart does part of the tour on foot, but most of the tour is by SUV so we could see more of the two main local areas. By the end of the tour he felt like family. Bart was born in Curaçao and his ancestors immigrated from the Netherlands during WWII. His tour not only introduced us to several delicious local foods but also shared the rich local history. First, more about the food. As Bart explained many of the local recipes are based on other culture dishes with a distinct Curaçao twist. We enjoyed fresh fruit smoothies for breakfast, followed by a unique delicious ground white pea muffins that was similar to a small corn muffin, but better and lighter with a unique “kick”. Later, after a tour of multiple cultural and historical sites we ate a dish of stewed beef on a bed of rice and peas and plantains- we could not finish it all! Bart was a wonderful, friendly, considerate guide. He even took us to a beautiful, local seaside park to enjoy our last dish. His tour was our favorite tour on our cruise. We HIGHLY recommend him!

Bart was awesome! So much more than a food tour. It was a culture tour as well. I went on several tours during my vacation and this one was the best! Don't settle for any other food tour.

Our experience in Curacao was taken to a whole new level thanks to Bart. He is very well informed and knowledgeable on the culture and history, very well connected to the local shops and restaurants, and above all else just a genuinely good guide. We went on this tour expecting to try new foods, which we did, but the tour was much more than just trying food thanks to the visible love Bart has for Curacao! We went to five food stops trying something new at each place. In between and during the stops is when we learned about not only the food culture and history but also the country. Which continued at the blue Curacao distillery. We were also able to stop and get some touristy photos! Long story short, I would book this tour all over again just to relive the experience

This fantastic food tour with Bart was one of the best things you can do for yourself, when in Curacao. Bart is born and raised in Curacao and was great at introducing us to the culture, history and flavor of his island. He takes you where the locals go, which in my opinion, is always the best. We give this tour 5 stars, but, I would give more if I could.

Bart was absolutely fantastic. He’s incredibly personable and deeply knowledgeable — not just about the food, but the culture, history, and daily life of Curaçao. Every stop came with stories and context that made each bite more meaningful. This wasn’t just eating; it was understanding the island through its flavors. Come hungry. In four hours, we had what felt like breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The variety was huge, and none of it was commercial or touristy. No chains. No resort-style stops. Just authentic, local, often “hole-in-the-wall” spots — many of them Bart’s personal favorites. He took us through neighborhoods and back ways we never would have seen on our own — exploring Otrobanda, Punda, and a bit beyond. At one point, we grabbed food to go and sat in a park watching the waves crash against the shore with the wind blowing. It was one of those simple, perfect travel moments you can’t manufacture. We also made a stop at the Blue Curaçao distillery and learned about its history, along with even more insight into the island’s past. We’re staying at an all-inclusive resort and are so glad we chose this over a resort excursion. We do food tours everywhere we travel because it’s our favorite way to learn a place — and this was one of the best we’ve ever done. It felt more local, more personal, and more “behind the scenes” than any other tour we’ve experienced. 100% recommend. Book it. Tell Bart we say hi! 👋
