Ksar Ouled Soltane, near Tataouine in southern Tunisia, is a remarkably preserved, 15th-century Berber fortified granary (ksar) made of adobe, featuring stacked vaulted rooms called ghorfas around two courtyards for storing food and valuables, strategically built on a hilltop for defense against raids, and gained international fame as a filming location for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace
