If you want to understand better the Balkans with all its complexity, rich history and colorful mixture of different cultures and habits, we recommend you to visit Nis with us. During this day tour you will travel through history with the professional lead of your guide. Our journey through time will start from the Roman period, when Nis gave to the world one great man – The Roman Emperor Constantine the Great. Then we will continue through the Middle Ages and the period of Ottoman rule which left constructions like the Nis Fortress and the Skull Tower – a symbol of the struggle for freedom and independence from the Ottomans. In the end we will pay attention to the Modern history and the period of Nazi occupation of former Yugoslavia, visiting the Nazi Concentration Camp. Of course after all the impressions that you get, it will be time for some rest. You will have the chance to taste the famous Serbian cuisine - one of the most delicious on the Balkans.

Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation in Sofia at 08:30 am. After approximately 2 hours of drive, we will reach our first sight – Medijana archaeological park, which is a Roman Imperial residence, nowadays closed due to renovation.
Skull Tower
Our next stop will be the Skull Tower, known also as Cale kula. The tower is now a museum dedicated to the Bulgarians and the Serbs who took part in the revolt against the Ottoman Empire. It was built from the Turks and constructed with the skulls of the killed rebellions. The idea of this act was to warn others what will happen if they revolt again.

Good place but lot of dark history. One day tour was fine. Ivan was a nice guide. Other than the 2-3 area to visit not much to see. As a vegetarian had big problem getting good meal.

Excellent tour of Nis and surrounding area. We saw Constantine’s Palace, some more sombre sites including Skull Tower, and then finished with lunch in Nis city centre. Dimo explained each site very well, recommended an authentic Serbian restaurant for lunch and drove us very safely. We perhaps could have had slightly longer at each place to take photos, but overall this was a great day.

This tour was simply fascinating. I would highly recommend the tour and, more specifically, the company. I did 2 tours with this tour group and I was highly impressed.

I had a very meaningful experience on the Day Tour to Niš, Serbia. Our guide Lyubo was once again excellent, sharing deep historical insights throughout the journey, while Adrian did a great job organizing the tour smoothly. On the way, we passed by Mediana, the former palace of Emperor Constantine, which added interesting context to the region’s Roman history. In Niš, visiting the Skull Tower was a powerful and sobering reminder of the struggles during the Ottoman period. The Red Cross Nazi Concentration Camp was equally moving, offering an important look into the events of World War II. We ended the tour exploring the Niš Fortress, where we had time to walk around and take in the history and atmosphere of the city. Overall, it was a well-organized trip filled with fascinating history and thoughtful storytelling. Highly recommended for anyone interested in learning more about the region.

Great day - our guide Theodore went out of his way to accommodate 6 women who all wanted different things! (coffee, souvenirs and many toilet stops). He was incredibly knowledgeable and sensitive to some of the more challenging themes that appeared throughout the day. Amazing recommendation for lunch and overall a brilliant experience. We would definitely recommend.
