The Palace Complex of Ak-Saray
Ak Saray Palace (White Palace). The dimensions of the building can be perceived when looking at the gate towers: the two towers were 50 m high and had an arch with a span of 22 m. The buildings were destroyed in the 16th cent. by order of the ruler of Bukhara, Abdullah Khan.
Kok-Gumbaz Mosque
In 1435, the Kok-Gumbaz mosque (the “Blue Dome”) was built opposite the Kulyal's mausoleum and on the same axis. The inscription on the portal says about its construction by Ulugbek on behalf of his father Shah Rukh. It played the role of the Juma Mosque, that is, the Friday Cathedral Mosque of Shahrisabz.

Well organised tour. Enjoyed the beautiful scenery on the drive from Samarkand to Shahrisabz. My driver and guide were very nice and helpful. I would have liked to have spent more time in the new part of the city. James, Ireland

The driver was very punctual and picked me up on time directly from my hotel in the morning. We set off and stopped at a few scenic spots along the way. Met me the guide at Shahrisabz, who had a wealth of knowledge about each site. After an hour and a half we met again with the driver at the exit and set off for lunch at a local spot. The driver dropped my off at Samarkand train station by 13:30. Overall this is a good trip if you have an extra day in Samarkand and best for seeing life outside the Samarkand city center and visiting the sites in Shahrisabz. The sites at Shahrisabz are all centrally located and there is little information posted so I really recommend getting the guide to make the trip worthwhile.

If you have days to spare, it is a good short day trip going through the mountain pass to Shahrisabz. We booked a last minute trip with Travel Bliss via TripAdvisor, I like that on the website they let you choose the departure time and option of with or without a guide whereas with other operators you can't customize on the reservation page. The driver was punctual and nice, we were able to communicate with translator app. He picked a nice kebab restaurant for lunch. All the sites are within one big park so you don't really need a guide. We recommend Travel Bliss, good communications and follow up on our trip.

Very interesting excursion that allows to see something other than the city, nice route crossing a pass, and impressive remains of the palace of Timur, as well as several mausoleum and mosque.

Today I had a nice tour to Sharisabz. The tour was well organized and the guide knew a lot about the history of Emir Timur. It was nice talking with him and the drive was with a pleasant SUV.

If you have some time on hands it's a nice drive from Samarkand. However, unless you like a park (it's not as nice as the parks in Samarkand) and paying to go into shops not worth it, as they have knocked almost everything down, to build the park. For tourists there is a 30000 or 40000 entrance fee to what is left, after the grandeur of the monuments in Samarkand you will feel quite let down.

I had gone with Ahadjon to Shahrisabz. He was very friendly and drove well. He also stopped along the way when I wanted to take pictures. I had a wonderful experience with this travel company as they coordinated the tour well and were prompt with their replies.

We had an excellent driver who was punctual, friendly and knowledgeable. Our guide spoke excellent English and taught us a few words in Uzbek. It was a fascinating tour and a chance to enjoy the majesty of Timur's architectural vision and Uzbekistan's natural beauty.

Excellent friendly driver and lovely knowledgeable local guide. Interesting history but a pity that the location was sanitised to create the park setting for the buildings.
