Marble Canyon
Marble Canyon, light hiking to fully appreciate the canyon's peculiar terrain and waterfall landscape. Marble Canyon has seven bridges to hike, walking in a zigzag pattern over the deep limestone canyon and the meandering creek below. The canyon is where Torkham Creek joins the Vermilion River, where fossilized Cambrian soft-bodied organisms from millions of years ago have been found, and is quite magnificent. A narrow path over the creek leads to a bridge overlooking the canyon below, with frozen waterfalls cascading down from above on the right, a breathtaking landscape and cool pools of impressive water. Trip was good. Layse was great. She talked about the history of the areas. More time would be nice at stops and trip was only 6 hours. Didn’t make it to Banff. It was understandable not going to Emerald Lake and the Natural Bridge due to weather and road conditions so went to Johnston Canyon as a replacement. Definitely not enough time to fully enjoy the sites with ease. We were excited to see these areas and for sure felt like we were rushed. Something to consider. The parking for the day was outrageous as well. No lineups this time of year which was nice except for lunch which was also not a great experience. I’m fortunate to be an avid hiker with experience but if other travellers are not this would definitely be something to look into with a guide along. Trails were simple enough though situations can come up and if you are not aware that potentially could be an issue. Marble canyon was partially blocked off due to an avalanche prior so an understanding about that would be beneficial. Noticed that others were not following trail protocol which creates problems as well. It was a nice experience all in all and not having to be the one driving was nice but for future trips I would recommend allowing more time and utilize the allotted 8-10 hours as stated on the trip. Information about parking would be helpful as well.

Guide was friendly but while we appreciate the safe driving, the tour was more of a hop on/ hop off bus. She did give us history and information but most of our 4 stops were shortened: Marble canyon was 25-30 min (instead of 45 min), Lake Louise was 40 min (instead of 1 hour as described in the tour description), and Natural Bridge was completely skipped all together with no alternative spot so we got back to Banff super early around 3 pm (we started the tour 10 am). We were 2 passengers but only given 1 gift tote bag (I guess since we were together) when she had 3 totes for 3 passengers.

Layse was our tour guide and did an absolutely fantastic job. She was very informative yet comical and made sure the tour ran extremely smoothly. At the beginning of the tour she handed out crampers, for our shoes, which was a very very welcome addition, as most of the terrain was slippery and icy. Although we went on the winter tour, meaning the lakes were not blue, it was still incredibly scenic and the information given was still very relevant.

My winter day trip was spectacular with one other couple from my country and our tour guide, Layse M. Specifically, we went to (in no particular order) Marble Canyon - Yoho National Park - Emerald Lake - Natural Bridge - Lake Louise - Banff Town. Layse was very informative about the history and cultural heritage of Banff National Park (and all the sub-parks). Going at this time of year, certain parks are closed off, such as Moraine Lac, to those of the general public who aren’t aware of the safety concerns this time of year. If you are new to snow, consider bringing along snow spikes, however the parks are decently equipped with guard rails as well if you like to climb. Thank you to Layse and Westar Travel for a great time to connect with the Canadian Rockies.

We had a wonderful experience with our guide Layse. She arrived on time and was friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. She shared clear and helpful information before, during, and after every stop. She is an excellent rider, and we felt very confident and safe with her driving skills throughout the journey. The entire trip was well planned and well managed. We reached every destination on time, spent enough time at each place, and returned back home on time as well. Everything was exactly as shown in the itinerary. A heartfelt thank you to Layse and the entire team for making this travel plan smooth, enjoyable, and truly memorable.

We had a great guide Layse that was informative & patient throughout our trip. Emerald Lake and Lake Louise was snow covered and it was snowing when we arrived, which made for a very picturesque photo stop. The stops are pretty quick, which means we didn’t have time to complete the hike to the top of marble canyon, but the winter roads were a factor too. We would do this again, but in the summer to see the coloured lakes

Geoff was a great tour guide and we had a great time. A small group of 5 was good too. I imagine the bus would have been a bit crowded with a significantly larger group.

Our winter day trip through the Canadian Rockies was absolutely incredible. We visited Lake Louise, Marble Canyon, Emerald Lake, and several beautiful stops throughout Banff, and every moment felt like stepping into a postcard. The landscapes were unreal — frozen lakes, turquoise water peeking through the ice, snowy forests, and dramatic canyon views. Our guide, Geoff, made the entire experience even better. He was friendly, knowledgeable, organized, and made sure everyone was comfortable throughout the day. He shared fun stories and interesting facts about each location, kept the energy light, and helped us find the best photo spots without feeling rushed. You could tell he genuinely loves what he does. The tour was perfectly paced, giving us plenty of time to enjoy each stop, take pictures, and really soak in the beauty of the national parks. It was a relaxing, memorable, and effortlessly enjoyable way to explore some of the most iconic winter destinations in the Rockies. We highly recommend this tour, especially with Geoff. It was a highlight of our Banff trip and a day we’ll never forget.
