This tour is for the more fit travelers. Participants are expected to posses the ability to hike for five continuous hours up and down the nearby mountainsides. Our daily walking tours offer a similar experience in a less strenuous manner. While still a narrated tour, the interpretive hike covers more ground, and explores the glacier topology in depth. The extra time on the ground gives the group a chance to see the forested area near the Nenana river, the brushy but wildlife rich sub-alpine tundra, and the gorgeous views and highly adapted vegetation of the taiga. Groups size is a maximum of 6 people. This is Alaska so bring your outdoor gear; sturdy walking shoes, water, jacket and rain gear, along with your camera and curiosity of this great land. Some of the basic equipment is available, including rain gear, water, overboots and trekking poles.

Alex took myself and 5 others on such a beautiful hike, remote and out of the busy tourist areas. It felt very special. This was the perfect time to go with all the changing colors right now. I was very impressed with Alex and his knowledge on so many plants, wildlife and living in Alaska. And when it came to make the trip enjoyable and we'll suited for everyone I felt he did an exceptional job pacing us and checking in. The best surprise was making it to the top and him having hot beverages for us and snacks! Such a nice treat. With only 12 days left it was such a great way to end my season working in Denali. I will absolutely be sharing my experience with guests that come to the Princess Lodge and along my travel journeys, until Denali and I meet again! Definitely do this because itll make you feel so comfortable being out with the animals and learning about Alaska its what makes its beauty SO magical! 💞 And you'll have a truly once in a lifetime experience! 💗

We had a great hike, with an individual guide. He tailored the trip to what we were looking for. He was very well schooled in the local biology.

We did a 5 hour nature hike. Our guide Alex was very knowledgeable and passionate about the local plant and animal life. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and learned a lot. We saw some great views and he gave us suggestions for other hikes.

Our guide Courtney was amazing. Her theme for our hike was Foraging where we were introduced and able to taste many of the plants and berries the are eatable in the forest. She was very knowledgeable and passionate about how both wild animals and man use the forest "produce" as nutrition. The hike was tailored to the group's abilities/wishes and included both beautiful forest and mountain climbs. We loved this experience!

Courtney was absolutely the best guide ever. She took us on a trail and spent the entire time talking about local flora and fauna. She was such an absolute pleasure to be with. She and her husband also run a dog mushing tour in the winter. If you want an ecologically minded tour, this is it. Highly recommended

Andy was THE BEST guide I could have imagined. I was scared when I saw how capable he and my co-guest were, but he was with me every step of the way and pushed me to things I didn’t think I could do. It was a spectacular hike and by far and away the best thing I’ve done in Denali, and I’ve seen some incredible things here. I felt really safe throughout, and Andy taught me so much on so many levels. What a great guy and guide. Thank you Andy!! From Rachel, UK

Though the weather was not great when we were supposed to start, our guide who was well-trained ensured that we had all the equipment. Walking in Denali Park knowingly you can see a grizzly anytime is another kind of experience coupled with the lovely mountain views gazing at you from everywhere

We had planned on being on a hike with a number of people one night in July, and as it turned out, my 18 year old daughter and I were the only two that signed up, so Claire, our phenomenal guide, gave us some options. We ended up at Antler's Creek, 1000 feet up, resting and taking in breathtaking views. On the way up, she gave us more information that we expected, she spotted some wild blueberries (that were delicious), and she helped us navigate a hike that might have been a little more than we were used to but were able to love as we did it. The whole experience was awesome, and I'd hire them (and Claire specifically) again in a heartbeat.
