Becoming able to sail a sailboat only with the wind is a skill that will give you the sense of Freedom that only the ocean can give. You'll realize that you will be able to get to some of the most beautiful places on the planet with your new skills.
Having whale sightings (Dec - April), dolphins and turtles are always an exceptional surprise. Your vision and understanding of the sea changes completely. Being able to change course and adjust sails to quickly steer to flocks of birds that tell you the precise location of schools of fish makes you realize that you are able to adapt to the environment.
The experience of eating a Ceviche with the fish you just caught is incredibly rewarding.
Living this sailing experience will change your perception of the way you usually enjoy your trips to the beach with your family or friends.

What To Expect
Learn to Sail a Hobie Cat Sailboat and Catch (Fishing) Your Lunch. Your sailing adventure starts by learning how to interpret the direction of the wind to plan the best sailing route. During the tour, our instructor will teach you how to sail with the wind, your will get to know the components of the sailboat, how to position it with respect to the wind, the sailing points and basic maneuvers. At the end of the explanation, you will start practicing by sailing the Hobie-Cat yourself. It is common during the expedition to have encounters with dolphins and olive ridley turtles on the journey. During whale season is also common to have encounters (Dec-April). As part of the sailing experience, we will set a couple of fishing lines during the tour. Spotting schools of fish is very possible thanks to the flocks of seagulls that fly over them. At the end of the trip you decide if you want us to prepare a Ceviche or Sashimi with what we have caught. It couldn't be fresher. At the end of the journey you will have acquired basic skills of sailing that will remain with you for a lifetime. Prior to the sailing day we will send you tutorial videos about the experience.

5.00This trip was amazing! Fernando is a wonderful guide. He teaches you all about the catamaran and is very patient with you as you learn. He is a generous person with a lot of fun stories as well! Being on the boat is great, we even saw some whales in the distance as we were sailing. The boat feels very stable and safe too! Even though we didn't catch any fish this time, Fernando had prepared some fresh ceviche (it was delicious) that we ate with his family. When I come back to PV I will for sure look up this adventure again!

5.00This was hands down one of our most memorable experiences in Puerto Vallarta. Sun, sea, fishing, and quality family time — it really had everything. Sailing was incredibly relaxing, with the soothing motion of the water setting the tone for the day. The fishing itself felt almost mOne of our favorite activities in Puerto Vallartaeditative, and there was something deeply satisfying about catching fish and then eating it within about 90 minutes of pulling it from the ocean. Watching the entire ceviche-making process was fascinating — each step of preparation. It turned into a true family project (on the crew’s side!), and everything was unbelievably fresh. Sitting there, watching the ocean, drinking cold beers, and enjoying ceviche made from what we had just caught was simply fabulous. A beautiful, delicious, and meaningful experience from start to finish. We loved every minute - including the staff attention - and would absolutely do it again.

5.00We had a great time. Rafael was a great guide/captain. My son steered the boat for a while. We stopped and swam in the ocean for a while. We spotted a sea turtle and saw birds diving for fish. We got unlucky and didn't catch any fish or see any whales.

5.00I had a great time and the crew was accommodating. I wasn't interested in the fishing portion and booked a time later in the evening when the winds were high so I could experience more speed on the Hobiecat. Fernando was a great and patient instructor and Eduardo made us some excellent guacamole.

5.00We had a wonderful time sailing with our 8 year old son! This was a highlight of the trip. They are really patient and easy to understand. They let everyone try to steer and turn the boat around all while teaching the basics of sailing. We sadly did not catch any fish, but we still enjoyed the fresh guacamole on the beach afterward and stuck around to relax. I would highly recommend this activity!

5.00I went out on the hobie cat with my three kids and these guys did a great job teaching my children how to sail. They were patient, spoke great English, and let my kids try over and over to do the sails, and turn the boat and catch the wind. We were mostly focused on hoping to catch a fish which did not happen, but it was mostly because the winds were too high. They worked hard to make a nice lunch which we enjoyed and let us use their boogie boards for quite a while afterwards and videoed us so we’d have those memories. Highly recommend.

5.00We had an amazing time! The captain gets you in and out on the beach, after that how ever much or little you want to sail is completely up to you. The ocean was calm and we were surrounded by whales in nearly all directions. Very courteous all around, will return!

5.00The tour is a great experience that I have not seen in any other agency, from the reservation Eduardo was very kind to answer all my doubts and attend to my requests, during the sailing experience the instructor has a lot of experience and patience, at first I doubted that I could sail the sailboat alone, but I got it with ease, thanks to the experience of the instructor, we fished and in the end already back, I prepared an exclusive ceviche with fishing, ALL for the same price. Without a doubt these types of tours are more a personal experience than a tour of a cataogo, Thank you very much Eduardo, in December I plan to return to sail your sailboat again.
