This experience was a 20 out of 10! Danny was very knowledgeable about the diving options as well sharing great gems (food, experiences, etc.) on the island. His employee Mario was also very helpful. Danny’s communication was top tier from start to finish. Transport was easy with great instructions from the cruise port. I easily rank this experience as the best I’ve encountered on any excursion. Also, as a female solo traveler I felt very safe. I cannot wait to return!

I have had the good fortune to dive many places. This was my first time to Roatan and my first time to Seagrape. The Resort and on-site dive shop were recommended by some friends who are repeat visitors at Seagrape. First of all, the ease and simplicity of staying here and diving here are unmatched in my experience. The accommodations are simple, tasteful, and always spotless. I stayed in one of the oceanfront cottages and I don’t have to explain the magic of falling asleep to the sound of the ocean. Just steps from your oceanfront home to Breakfast/Lunch at the on-site restaurant, and the on-site dive shop and on-site fleet of dive boats. The meals are basic fare but tasty and thoughtfully prepared by staff that are attentive to any special dietary requirements. For dinner, the proximity of the resort to the restaurants and night life of the West End can’t be beat. Less than a half mile walk! At meals, it was clearly evident that almost all the guests were repeat customers. I can see why. I talked to several people that had been there 4+ times in the last 12 months. That would sound crazy to me had I not experienced it myself. The dive team was excellent: super friendly and accommodating, definitely making everyone feel like part of the family. Every other place I have been, weather is just weather and they cancel without much explanation. I was completely amazed that the dive team moved the boats to the other side of the island and transported the gear and the divers so that we could dive in calmer conditions when weather set in on the resort’s side of the island. That really impressed me. As far as the diving goes, I would put this amongst the best in Caribbean, and perhaps the world. The variety of terrain, coral formations, swim thrus, wrecks, and wildlife was some of the best I have never experienced. The dives were spectacular. The dive boats were spacious, well equipped, clean and well organized. Safety was always a priority. Crowds were managed to small numbers per Dive Master. Rachel the Dive Manager was super accommodating at every turn. Seagrape was one of the best Dive Resort experiences I have had. So much so that I began planning my next visit before leaving!

Great communication from Dani! He was great! Transfer and pickup was very easy and organized. Scuba experience was top notch. We were all beginners and Luca was an amazing and very patient instructor. He taught us the fundamentals in the pool where we were able to practice the necessary skills and get comfortable before we went out into the open water. Once we were in the open water, Luca stayed with us and kept a constant eye on us. Our family of four had such a great time that we are now thinking of getting certified!

We had a great experience with this dive operation. From the time we booked the one day dive with two thanks we were given very good instructions of where to meet our driver who took us to the dive center. The equipment was great as was the crew and the divesites. Everything was as expected and we definitely recommend this place for diving.

When we got off the cruise ship at Roatan, the tour driver was there waiting for us with a sign easy to find. We drove out of town to the attractive beach resort of Upachaya (oo'-puh-chai-uh) about a half hour away. There our dive instructor Peter K met us and guided us through all the steps of the PADI-authorized introductory dive. Peter was very personable and competent as he fitted us for the dive, checked equipment (and replaced some faulty equipment), and covered all outfitting details. Instruction was careful and thorough. Equipment was first rate. We started with a pool session. When Peter was sure we knew all the diving and safety procedures, we proceeded to the dive boat (a first-class boat with twin 175 hp outboards that purred like a kitten and ran like a leopard). The open ocean (outside the reef) was quite choppy, and Peter assessed it to be less than safe, so we came back inside the reef where the currents and wave motion were much calmer. The reef is an amazing place to dive, packed with colorful tropical fish and coral of every description. Peter pointed out interesting things to see as he guided us over the reef, all the while attentive to any issues. Tanks and equipment were comfortable and worked without a hitch. We could dive as deep as we wanted, up to 40 feet. We were in the water at the reef for about a half hour, which feels like a good duration for a Discovery dive. After the dive, Peter and his dive assistant helped us remove dive gear and talked with us for a while (Peter has been diving in many locations all over the world). Negatives: No complaints about the trip at all; everything was very well done for an excellent experience. But note that there is a form you have to fill out (for all Discovery dives, not just this one) that the website doesn't tell you about ahead of time. It asks you about your physical condition, including your ability to walk a mile within a time constraint (14 min) and whether you take medications. Any negative response and you will not be allowed to dive without a doctor's evaluation. And you don't learn about the questionnaire until you actually arrive at the dive destination. It is something that should be disclosed in the tour descriptions prior to booking. It's not a trivial detail. All-in-all we (my daughter and I, ages 29 and 72) had a wonderful time. It was her first dive and they made it an amazing experience. It's clear to me that this dive shop ("Roatan Tour Guide Association") would be very good for experienced divers as well. I recommend this excursion for all adventurers.

We had a fantastic time diving in Roatan and relaxing at Upachaya afterwards. The property itself is beautiful and very relaxing - it was great to get away from the crowds. It's just a short drive away from the cruise ship docks but feels like another world. Our driver was lovely - he picked us up from the cruise ship dock and stopped off at a viewpoint on the way. He explained the history of Honduras and answered our many questions. Our dive instructor, Luca, was amazing and so patient with us while he showed us the ropes in the pool first, and then out in the sea. He pointed out lobster, crab, a large grouper, an eel and lots of other sea life throughout the dive. We also met with the managers of Upachaya who were very warm and welcoming. Dani, who arranged the experience for, was very helpful and responsive throughout. We would recommend this experience to anyone who is not yet a certified diver.
