What To Expect

Our dog sledding is located only a 45-minute drive from Tromsø, at the gateway to the Lyngen Alps. This area gives you stunning views over the majestic mountain peaks (up to 1400 meters!) and the fjord at the same time! Our tour involves 60 minutes of dogsledding in a thrilling ride along tree-lined trails and through open terrain. A briefing on how to handle the sled will be given before the trip. It’s not that hard, as the dogs are eager to run and follow the team in front of them. During the ride, you will be the musher and a part of a team together with your dogs. Your travelling partner will be sitting on the sled, and you switch positions halfway. Our guides will lead groups of 3-4 guest teams each. If you are a single person, you may be teamed up with another single person or one of our guides. After the adventure, we head inside to warm up by the fireplace and get a hot lunch and hot drinks. Breivikeidet has a large population of moose and reindeer during summer. We will tell you the story about the Moose, the Alaska Huskies and the daily life of our 4-legged friends.

Best birthday ever! Such a fun day! The welcome and instruction briefing was great, not too serious (the Norwegians have a fabulous sense of humour) but got the important information across. Once you are suited and booted, its a short trip over to where the dogs are waiting. You can tell they enjoy what they do - they were all super eager to get going! The ride itself was amazing - stunning views, interesting course (you do have to help the dogs out a few times with some hills!) and you swap between being the driver and the passenger a few times throughout. After the ride you get to spend time with all the dogs - most were super soft and lapped up the attention (there were one or two more introverted dogs who were happy to run but not overly fussed about having attention afterwards) NOTE: if you plan on giving lots of attention to the dogs, borrow some gloves from the host - they are outdoor dogs and have the typical outdoor dog smell, which my gloves then smelt of for the rest of my trip haha Topped off with some super tasty soup and bread to warm up again - we had seconds it was that good! Would 100% do again!

Great day, fun and funny presentation, lively and complete briefing. Outing with the perfect huskies, beautiful landscapes, with bonus 2 moose in the forest, guides very attentive and attentive, dogs very cuddly and endearing. A very good experience, with finally a snack by the fire.

On Wednesday, February 4th, we participated in the "Dog Sledding: A Self-Driven Arctic Experience from Tromsø" activity organized by Best Arctic. After a beautiful bus ride through the Norwegian landscape we arrived at the ebb destination. We were warmly welcomed by the guides and given a clear explanation of the basics of dog sledding. Then we put on our special clothing. The suits hung nice and clean on the racks. Afterward, it was off to the dogs, who were already barking loudly, waiting for us, and we set off. The ride took us through a beautiful, snowy landscape. After about an hour we were back at the location and could enjoy soup and bread. The organization was professional, and everything went smoothly. It lacked a bit of adventure; the ride was very relaxed.

Very authentic, the Dog Sledding Tour was about 45 minutes from Tromso, we were well equipped by Anne Stine (thermal suits, hats, gloves and boots), very good introduction, great, happy dogs. We were on the sleds for an hour. The duration was perfect, as driving the sleds was not strenuous either. The day was sunny, -25 degrees, but this was an experience for life, just great! Even getting together afterwards with soup, coffee and cocoa by candlelight and fireplace was cozy and relaxed. A recommended tour!

We made 4 excursions with this agency (fjords, aurora, Sami village and dog sled) and they were all really nice and well organized. We met the guides Juan and Anastasia: two smart guys, well prepared, very nice and helpful. I recommend everyone to book with Best Artic

The experience was beautiful, towing the sled immersed in a beautiful landscape is priceless and leaves you speechless. It felt like being on another planet and the dogs were overjoyed and couldn't wait to run. The most beautiful experience made here in Tromso!

Serious and reliable tour operator. They didn't sell us the Whale watching tour because there was no guarantee they could see them, while other companies had no qualms about boarding hundreds of customers. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. The information provided was clear and comprehensive and the Dogsledding excursion fantastic.
