What To Expect
Dubrovnik Walks
This is our meeting point, we all gather here, the guide briefly presents him/herself and off we go! 1,5 h tour begins! Dubrovnik never fails to awe the visitor; its streets paved with white limestone, its walls crowning the city, and its medieval sandstone-colored houses oozing with history. This 1.5-hour guided walking tour takes you deep into the city’s 1,400-year history, recalling ancient tales when Dubrovnik was one of the world’s most prosperous port cites. It tells tales of war and lets the tour-goer in on the culture of the city. After meeting in Pile area, in front of Sky bar, begin the journey through history and through Old Town. Pass the Franciscan Monastery and admire Orlando’s Column, a monument on the Stradun inspired by the city’s long-standing freedom and sovereignty. See, too, Onofrio’s Fountain, built in 1438 at the end of a 8-mile (12-km) aqueduct that gave the city its water supply. The walk also passes by the Rector’s Palace, Sponza Palace and the Cathedral of the Assumption, a baroque church built after the devastating earthquake of 1667.

We stop in Brsalje square for a brief summary of the tour, together with some basic point on what we are going to talk about and what we are goindg to see on the tour. We do not enter any facilities.

5.00This was a great way to learn about Dubrovnik and see inside the Old Town. Alex was our guide - she was excellent, with a real passion for her work and amazing knowledge. Finding the tour was very easy - near the main bus stop outside the old town. Headsets were provided which was ideal as it’s quite busy in the old town and would be hard to hear the guide! Lots of facts as well as suggestions for restaurants and shops. Pleased this was not just a tour about Game of Thrones (of course it can’t be ignored considering how much Dubrovnik featured in the show!) but rather a fascinating insight into a beautiful town seeped in history. It was 90mins very well spent and great value for money. Thank you to Alex - a brilliant tour guide.

5.00Our guide, Branko, was extremely knowledgable and amusing. An absolute must of a tour to give you a background of the old town before going off and exploring more on your own. Great explanations of the various wars, sieges, earthquakes and failed attacks on the city, through the ages as well as how the city had grown and how it was ruled. He was happy to answer any questions, even about his experiences of the difficult subject of the Homeland war. He also touched on the benefits and effects of tourism on Dubrovnik and the effect on the population of people who can still afford to live in the old town, or the wider city of Dubrovnik. Its the people who live there that make a city in my opinion, without them you just have a shell of a tourist attraction! (My opinion not the guides!). Excellent value and I would thoroughly recommend.
