Dujiangyan Panda Base, a peaceful sanctuary dedicated to panda rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation. Located in the mountains near Chengdu, this base is less crowded than the Chengdu Research Center and offers visitors a chance to see pandas in a more natural environment. Stroll through bamboo groves, watch giant pandas enjoy their daily activities, and learn how the sanctuary prepares pandas for possible release into the wild.

5.00Our visit to the Chengdu Panda Base was absolutely unforgettable, thanks to our amazing guide, Jay! He was friendly, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable about the pandas and their conservation. Jay knew exactly how to plan our route to avoid the crowds, so we could enjoy the pandas up close without feeling rushed. He even went above and beyond by taking us to see the “selfie panda”, which wasn’t included in the regular tour , such a thoughtful surprise! We also got some of the best photos of our trip thanks to him. If you’re visiting Chengdu, we highly recommend booking a tour with Jay. His passion, organization, and kindness truly made this experience one of the highlights of our entire trip. 🐼💚

5.00Jay and his amazing co-guide, Doria, went above and beyond to make this one of the most seamless and enriching tours we’ve ever been on. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organised, they met us at the hotel right on time, the drive to the Panda Base was smooth and comfortable, and they handled all the entrance fees and logistics so we could just relax and fully enjoy the day. Doria was by our side throughout, translating when needed, sharing fascinating facts and hilarious panda stories that made us appreciate these incredible animals even more. She’s warm, witty, and incredibly knowledgeable, the perfect guide! I chose to do the volunteer experience, and I can’t recommend it enough! Getting up close, preparing food, and learning about the pandas’ routines was an absolute dream come true. This is hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had in China, worth every single penny and then some! Thank you, Jay and Doria, for creating memories that will stay with us for a lifetime (and maybe even longer 🐼💚).

5.00A truly authentic and unforgettable experience! 🌿🐼 The tour of the pandas in Dujiangyan and Wolong gave us magical moments: getting close to these wonderful animals, watching them enjoy bamboo, play, climb or sleep peacefully... a dream come true for any nature lover. The surrounding mountainous area is also very beautiful and makes the experience even more impressive. Special thanks to our guide Jay, who accompanied us throughout the day with great availability and passion. In addition to taking us to the best spots to see the pandas, he told us stories and curiosities about China and neighboring Tibet, enriching the tour with a cultural touch that we loved. At lunch he took us to a typical restaurant, where we enjoyed authentic and really delicious dishes, perfect to complete an already extraordinary experience. If you are looking for an exciting adventure full of natural charm near Chengdu, this tour is perfect. Highly recommended 100%!

5.00We enjoyed our day with our friendly guide Penny. The children loved their time with the pandas. We couldn't opt for the volunteers option as the kids were too young but we could go at our own pace. A guided tour is of course not necessary but hassle-free for us. We just have to follow Penny. We found it very usefull to also have the driver with us as the Dujiangyan panda center is a little bit remote and we might have had a hard time finding a Didi/car for the 6 of us tonreturn to Chengdu.

5.00We had the most amazing time on our Panda trip to Dujingyan 😊 we saw several pandas up close. Our tour guide Jay was absolutely incredible, very knowledgeable and extremely passionate about the animals. He went above and beyond on our trip, and made the whole experience one of the best trips we’ve ever done. After the Pandas we went to a lovely ancient town, which included beautiful food and seeing the sites of the old town. Thank you Jay for such an amazing experience!

5.00This was an excellent excursion. My guide Jay picked me up promptly at my hotel. He was very knowledgeable about Chengdu, pandas and tourism in China in general. When we got to the pandas, he was able to tell me about the individual pandas themselves and their personalities! Unfortunately, the rules for interacting with the pandas were restricted right after I booked this excursion, so the panda keeper part of this booking was not as described. There is nothing the tour operator could have done about this. For the Panda Keeper part, I was with a small group of 8 to 9 year old kids. I teach pre-K here in China, so this didn’t bother me. We watched a documentary on the panda preservation project, then the kids learned how to make a water pipeline using bamboo. I just took pictures. Then we learned to make panda cakes. The kids weighed out the ingredients, but I jumped in to mix everything up and make cakes. The kids started to overcome their shyness and started practicing their English with me. Some of them were very good! On the ride back to Chengdu, Jay gave me some advice on my further travels through China. I highly recommend this excursion and Jay as a guide especially.
