Chania Town
The Tour starts by driving out of Chania's busy city centre to our first stop. Very soon we'll relax into nature's rhythm, by a Byzantine church, with special snacks & amazing views.
We'll continue through a breathtaking gorge to a tiny village where time seems to have stop. Among old pictures, historical objects & mountain views, we'll taste a must try Cretan dish. Wine or the local spirit distilled from grapes, will accompany our meal. In short walking distance, thousands of years old olive trees, waiting for our visit!

Our guide Stelios is passionate about the Cretan culture and was so happy to share his knowledge with us. We were picked up promptly and taken in his very comfortable vehicle to places we never would have gone. After a short ride, we stopped at an ancient roadside chapel, which we learned is maintained by locals. He took us through the gorge and up into the mountains, where we stopped at a most unusual cafe. The owners prepared a delicious, authentic treat while sharing with us his collection of WW II artifacts that he found locally. The silence was amazing while looking at the thousand year-old olive tree. The hospitality of the local wine maker was wonderful! He was so proud to share his wine, which was delicious, and olives from his own trees. Our next stop was at the local cafe where we had an amazing meal with typical Cretan recipes. There was too much food and wine to finish!! You will not find the places we went or the roads we traveled on any other tour in Crete!

A glorious experience for the 3 of us! We flew in to Crete from Athens for one day & selected this amazing tour for our Crete Adventure. It was the BEST DECISION! Driving through the mountains, invited into local homes to sample their wine and olives, getting to experience the real life in Crete, & thoroughly enjoying a fantastic meal at the end of the tour. One of the highlights of our two weeks in the Mediterranean.

Everything went very smoothly in the run up to the day, and communication was good. Stelios, the owner of the tour company, and our guide for the day, was excellent and very friendly. His knowledge of Greek history, culture and food was amazing. He was also able to explain in detail what is different and unique between specifically ‘Cretan’ food, and Greek food in general. In a very comfortable car we drove away from Chania towards the white mountains. It was amazing how quiet and tranquil it feels, away from the busy areas. We visited ancient sites, tiny remote villages, met with small scale producers, trying lots of samples, and then a large and very varied meal cooked by an expert cook. There was also a generous amount of wines to accompany the food. All of this was included in the price of the tour.

We had an amazing time on this food and culture tour in Crete . Our guide, Stelios, was fantastic and really showed us the local life and countryside outside of Chania. We ventured to hidden gems in the White Mountains. These are places that tourists would never find! It was a private tour, which made it even more special. We visited charming family-run local tavern/cafes, sampled local wine and delicious food. We took pictures with a 3,000-year-old olive tree. We also enjoyed an unforgettable wine tasting in a local's home. We are so grateful to Stelios and his behind the scenes preparation with all the local hosts that resulted in this amazing tour with unrivaled warm Cretan hospitality.

Stelios was an excellent tour guide. Each part of the tour included different types of food and local wine. Everything was delicious! The drive up through the mountains and surrounding Chania suburbs was a truly unique experience that we were so happy to have booked.

Truly unique experience of Chania's food and culture. Our guide Stelios did a great job showing us the side of Chania from a local perspective, and it turned out to be a private tour for us. We visited areas in the White Mountains where tourists would never know to venture, including a quiet family-run tavern with 3,000 year-old olive trees and a unforgettable home wine tasting. Thank you to Stelios and all of our local hosts for your incredible Cretan hospitality.

My sister and I did this tour and it was hands down the best part of our Crete trip. We saw the beautiful mountains, learned Cretan and Greek culture, laughed and ate until we could fit no more. I highly recommend doing this tour!

What an awesome day with our hosts Marie Claire and Stelios sampling fantastic food and drink! (That cheese and those tomatoes 🔥). Truly a glimpse into Chania countryside living. It was just my daughter and me and another lovely couple from Toronto. Get out of the “tourist zone” and enjoy the real Crete!
