5.00Hiking was fun and beautiful. It was cooler in Valle de Anton than on the coast, so we had more energy for some great hikes.

4.00Stephanie and Stephan are ex-pat Canadians who fell in love with Panama and have made it their home. They run a very informative tour! The van picked us up promptly at hotel with coolers of snacks and various drinks for the 2 hour drive to El Valle de Anton. First stop was the park where entry and walking stick was included. Beautiful hike down under a large waterfall to a pool at the bottom with changing and seating areas where we could snack and swim. Next, a real Panamanian lunch a la carte. Then to the market across the street where Stephanie pointed out native handicrafts; very reasonable prices and i wish we had bought more! Also wish I had taken picture with the Kuna woman who sold embroidered fabrics called "mola." Next stop was to see Golden Frogs, mascot of Panama, and the forest of Square trees. Only saw 1-2 of the trees but still a nice hike along a creek up into the wall of the volcano. This was a wonderful, informative tour of the part of Panama away from the city, beaches, and canal.
