What To Expect
Join me for a hands-on Sri Lankan cooking class in the scenic hills of Ella! We’ll start by getting familiar with fresh local ingredients and spices unique to Sri Lankan cuisine. As we cook together, I’ll show you how to make authentic dishes like coconut sambal, aromatic curries, and more, explaining each technique and its cultural significance. After cooking, we’ll enjoy our meal in the open air, surrounded by the lush nature of Ella—a perfect way to experience the flavors and traditions of Sri Lanka firsthand!

5.00What a wonderful experience, cooking local Sinhalese curries in Moms Kitchen! The course was well prepared and organised. They were especially great at including our kids (aged 7 and 12) and if we could, we would have given the experience 10 stars.

5.00We were here as a family (2 teenage children) and prepared and enjoyed our Christmas Eve meal. The two ladies are incredibly nice and patient and have explained every step well. The curries were super delicious and the preparation was huge fun! Absolutely recommend!! We did the tour with our teenage kids and prepared and enjoyed our Christmas Food here. The ladies are so nice and patient and explain every step. The curries were super delicious and we really enjoyed our Christmas Eve! We highly recommend Mom’s cooking class!!

5.00Authentic Sri Lankan cooking experience! We had the most incredible time!! Very informative - each step and ingredient is explained in great detail and each person had a chance to complete each step. We made 4 different, delicious curries - so flavourful and yum! All in all we were there for around 1.5/2 hours but we were welcomed to stay and have as many helpings as we wanted. Afterwards we received the recipes which is so exciting for when we return home! Definitely a highlight of my trip so far and highly highly recommend!!

5.00The morning spent at Mom’s Kitchen with Irosha and her mum was very special, and I would like to thank them from the bottom of my heart for sharing this moment with us. We loved the outdoor kitchen, nestled in the lush tropical forest — it was so beautiful! Both were so kind and sweet with my 7-year-old son, Marlo, who loved learning how to cook this delicious curry with them. Such a lovely experience; we could not have dreamed of better!

5.00Lovely hosts who clearly explained every step, including the ingredients and their purpose. All the equipment was authentic, and every question we had was answered. We were joined by two other guests, and each of us got a chance to take part in all the steps, tasting along the way. The views were exceptional, and we sat chatting for a while afterward—they even encouraged us to get up and enjoy second helpings! All the recipes were shared with us via WhatsApp. This has been the best experience of our travels so far. Highly recommend

5.00Irosha and her mum hosted the BEST cooking class! I love Sri Lankan food and couldn’t wait to learn more in the class, and it far exceeded our expectations. They were fun, educational, engaging, interactive. It was also one of the best meals we’ve had on the trip. Would really recommend booking if you are in Ella - it is so worth it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

5.00This was a highlight of our holiday. We met this wonderful Sri Lankan family who taught us their delicious cooking. It was amazing and the flavours were so good. They explained it all so well and we feasted on all the curries at the end. I was surprised how much we cooked. I would really recommend this for a family. Excellent value too.

5.00I booked this cooking course spontaneously on the same day I arrived in Ella, and it turned out to be one of the absolute highlights of my trip. I’ve done several great cooking classes in other countries, but this one was truly special – pure Sri Lankan family-style cooking at its best. The mother and daughter hosting the class were incredibly warm and welcoming, and their little nephew/grandchild added even more charm to the experience. They took their time to explain every step, shared helpful tips, and created such a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. We laughed a lot and felt completely at home. And the food… simply amazing! I’m so excited to recreate everything back home. I would highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Ella. Thank you so much!

5.00We made fantastic sri lankan currys and rice, after travelling for 14 days, this was still the best curry and rice we had on our vacation. They where really good at helping and guiding us through the experience. We made 5 different curries - Lovely people 10/10
