Walking through the neoclassical part of the city, we will have the opportunity to visit some unique monuments of Greek modern history, such as the town hall of Ermoupolis, the theater of Apollo, the church of Agios Nikolaos, and the Virgin of El Greco, as well as taste the unique traditional sweet of the island, "loukoumi."!

Explore the biggest town hall in Europe! Ermoupolis Town Hall is a building designed by Ernestos Ziller and built between 1875 and 1891 in the capital of Syros. It is built on the north side of the central square of Ermoupolis, right on the axis of the large shopping street of Ermou Street

We will visit the first theater in Greece! The emblem of the cultural development of Hermoupolis, it was built in 1862-1864 according to the plans of the famous Italian architect Pietro Sambo! The admission of the entrance is 3 euros!

Spent a very interesting couple of hours walking round Ermoupoli with our guide Dimitri. We visited various attractions around the town that we would never have seen on our own. Dimitri was informative and very passionate about the island. I loved seeing the ornate Greek Orthodox churches and the Theatre. The highlight was an original El Greco icon hanging in a small but beautiful church.

Lots of fun and learned a lot of history. While many of the locations are accessible on our own, we were able to learn a lot more about the cultural significance of each stop from Dimitri.

Ermoupoli is a city with very rich history, and touring around the city with a local, who has also formal history training is indispensable. Dimitris is a great guy, he took us around five important city landmarks, while walking through the city's lovely small streets and alleys. We kept talking throughout the whole tour and he answered pretty much all of our many questions. It turned out to be a private tour for our family of four, in which we've learnt a lot. Our teenagers enjoyed it very much, too. Definitely very much recommended. It's also best to do it towards the beginning of your stay, so you get your whereabouts of the city, and ideas for further exploration.

We had just arrived on the island in the morning, so this tour was a good way to get ourselves acquainted with the town. Dimitri was very knowledgeable and had the tour planned well so as to not wear us out on what was a very hot day. We had cold water delivered by his father on a motorcycle halfway through the tour.
Excellent walking tour. I would recommend this tour.

What a nice walking tour of the city. I really fell in love with this island and getting to know the history and character of it was really great. Our tour guide was fantastic, he really knew his stuff. A lovely, easy day in the town!
