Kochi's Niyodo river has become a famous sightseeing spot over the last few years. The best way to experience it is paddling down it. With our tour, you packraft down rapids suitable for beginners which makes our tour a great experience for adventure and outdoor lovers without needing prior experience. However, make no mistake, this is an active tour! Please ensure that you are active enough and have good swimming skills.

What To Expect

Packrafting is a adrenaline filled mix of kayaking and white water rafting. Think of it as water bumping cars. We require participants to be active and good swimmers. At the meeting point, you will be geared up with wetsuits, boots, lifejackets and helmets and driven to the start point where you will do a short walk to the river. Then, you will have short safety brief, training and you start making your way down the river. Our tour includes some cliffjumping as well. It is about 1.5 hour on the river, 4 km. Our guides can all speak English, of them Spanish and French as well. For safety purposes, guests under the age of 12 and over 65 cannot participate. If you are excluded and you think you can participate, please let us know.

The natural surroundings were beautiful. Low water level however a wonderful time going down the river! Equipment all provided (minor wear and tear) Guide very experienced and knowledgeable. Guide made me feel that every second we were safe in his care. ( two people and guide) The facility was clean and showers provided. Pick up pier was flawless and punctual however very old messy van. I mean it got us there! Great experience!!

When no one showed up at pick up, we messaged and promptly received a cancellation by the vendor. A real shame as it was a beautiful day in Kochi.

We had an amazing day! Upon our arrival in Kochi, we were picked up at the cruise port. It was an hour plus drive to the Nyoto company where we were outfitted with everything we needed. Once on the river we received excellent instruction. The scenery was beautiful and pack rafting was very fun. I definitely recommend this tour!

We did the family tour with our 7 and 10 year old - it was such a great experience and one of the highlights of our Japan holiday. Great scenery, away from the hustle and bustle of the cities. It was lots of fun and felt very safe. Our first time all rafting as a family - our daughter was not as confident as our son, but Ami and Facundo, our guides, made sure that everyone was enjoying themselves at the level they felt comfortable. Jumped off rocks into the beautiful river and if you're lucky you'll get a photo in front of the submersible bridge. The photos and videos sent to us, taken by our guides during our rafting were an unexpected bonus and meant we will have these memories to cherish forever. Highly recommend!!

Had a wonderful time with this company. Great guides and spectacular part of Japan. Felt very safe as we navigated the rapids under the skillful guidance of Hiro, who knows the river well. Had some fun jumping off rocks and bridges. Gorgeous water, very clean and clear. Appreciate to GoPro footage taken for us. Lots of great memories to take home. Lunch afterwards, at the hotel where this company is based, was delicious and very affordable. Highly recommend this tour.
