A great day trip to the Mountains with Mirzokhid! An informative and comfortable day out with a Mountain stop, horse riding, lunch and a visit to the reservoir. Mirzokhid even purchased flowers for us ladies :)

Positives: 1. We went to all 3 places 2. They were pretty 3. Tour guide was a good person Negatives: 1. Tour guide did not speak English, a few words here and there, 2 total facts of places but no explanation of what is what 2. When we got to Amirsoy he said he will be parked in that spot. I told him we do not have internet and cannot call, but I did take his number, when we came back he was not there. We looked for 30 min, then asked local man to call and he did, the tour guide was somewhere else, we were on our own 3. The reservoir is super rocky, couldn't swim, sharp rocks, it said it was free - 25000 somes per person we had to pay to whom we don't know... 4. We were picked up from the hotel 30 min late 5. If my mom would not been able to speak Russian with locals we would have been lost - if you are a solo American tourist don't do it!

The natural beauty of the land was extraordinary. We rode the cable car at Amirsoy to the top and hiked along the ridge line for incredible panoramic views. There were many activities at that resort - a ropes course, archery, a pool, ATVs, etc. Chimgan Mountain has a chairlift that affords spectacular views, and we also took a 40-minute horseback ride to the foot of the mountain. Charvak Lake was all shades of brilliant blues, idyllic for swimming, jet skiing or, in our case, a speedboat circuit with a 10-minute stop for swimming off the stern of the boat. Our guide was really friendly and did everything possible to ensure we had a fantastic time, including stopping for a meal before heading back to Tashkent, which meant we toured from 8 am to 6:30 pm. That was above and beyond expectations! The only glitches were the lack of air conditioning - we drove all day with the windows down until the final hour of the trip, and the air conditioner for that last hour seemed to be struggling (t was very warm) - and the advertised water was only 2 small bottles per person, which was not nearly enough for that long a tour in the unrelenting sun. Also, although I specified on my tour booking that I am a vegetarian and I ordered what I was told was a vegetable, tomato and pasta dish, it had chunks of chicken in it so I did not have a meal. Furthermore, my order was not delivered to the table until everyone else was long finished eating; it had obviously been forgotten. When the guide realized that, I asked him to just cancel the order so we could go, but he asked the staff to fulfill the order, which meant everyone else had to wait while it was prepared, only to discover that it was full of chicken. I can only surmise that my guide did not see my booking note about being vegetarian and did not understand my questions at the restaurant about whether or not the dish contained meat or chicken. I'd say If you're vegetarian, pack some food for yourself because it's a long day to go without nourishment. In summary: the sights are great but be prepared for a non air-conditioned vehicle, bring your own supply of water, and pack some food if you're vegetarian.

The driver, Mirzo, was very kind and courteous. It's a very satisfying tour, with a completely different view in about an hour and a half by car from Tashkent. Due to its high altitude, it is cool and summery in summer. Next time I want to visit in winter and ski.
