Best Possible Initiation of Dijon

5.00We were very fortunate to have been guided around the historical city center of Dijon by Clement Lassus – Minvielle, a knowledgeable and proud Burgundian who grew up locally. Clement has a background in archaeology and history, has authored a dozen books, and is often called upon to lecture groups. He walked us through the historical center of town focusing on the city's historical places, people, and cultural attributes, including some recommended shops, restaurants, and bakeries. We got further insight into his character the following day, as we walked away from a shop that was still to open, we mysteriously received a text message from Clement telling us to come back, the shop was open now, and about the same time we read the message, Clement tracked us down on foot to deliver the message in person. He had been perched nearby waiting to begin another tour this day. When he spied our frustrated attempt to enter the shop, he took the time and went out of his way to inform us it had opened after we left. He's a top-notch guide and a really good person. Only one hour with him is not enough.

4.00Clement was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall , 1 hour only gives only a quick overview. I think this quite pricey for one hour.

5.00First and foremost, we want to thank Marie for doing a great job and being a fantastic tour guide. Marie was knowledgeable, covered all the points of interest and the history, made the tour interesting, was personable and made us feel like we were touring with a friend. She answered all our questions, took photos for us, and offered suggestions on where to eat and find authentic Dijon products. This was our first trip to Dijon and after our 90 minute tour (which went very quickly because Marie made it so fascinating) we both agreed we would have missed so much information, so many highlights, interesting and fun facts, etc. that it would have just been any town outside of Paris. Marie and the tour made our trip to Dijon memorable and well worth it.

5.00We booked a private tour by accident, but so glad that we did it. Our guide, Clement, is an expert on the city's archaeology and knows every detail of the city's buildings and history. He not only shared fascinating background stories of the each place, but also took us to the exact location where we can have the best views of each sight. Checking into local shops and a peek into restaurants' inside were also very interesting. I woudl think these experiences were not possible with a large group tour. Thank you for answering all our questions.
