What To Expect
Kiyomizu-dera Temple
Your guide will stop with you near Kiyomizudera Temple, one of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks. From this viewpoint, you’ll hear about the temple’s rich history, its famous wooden stage overlooking the city, and the spiritual significance of the surrounding grounds. If you’d like to enter the inner areas, such as the Main Hall, the Kiyomizu Stage, and Otowa Waterfall, an entrance ticket is required (around ¥500–¥600). However, you’re also welcome to enjoy the surrounding historic area and browse the many famous traditional shops and snack stalls nearby without entering the paid zone.
Chion-in Temple
Your guide will lead you through the towering Sanmon Gate, the largest wooden gate in Japan, into Chionin Temple, the head temple of the Jodo Pure Land Buddhist sect. You’ll step inside the grand Mieido Hall, where centuries of tradition come alive, and walk across the famous nightingale floors that chirp with each step. Hear legends like the forgotten umbrella that protects the temple and see the 74-ton bell, one of Japan’s largest. With peaceful gardens, rich history, and stunning architecture, this stop offers a powerful glimpse into Kyoto’s spiritual and cultural soul.

5.00We had an outstanding bike tour today. Our guide, Yonni, was phenomenal. She chose a route that let us see a huge number of temples, explained Buddhist and Shinto traditions in a clear, engaging way, and made sure all three kids were comfortable and safe the entire time. When our 13-year-old forgot her gloves on a freezing 40°F day, Yonni didn’t hesitate. She gave her an extra pair and even had pocket hand warmers ready. That level of thoughtfulness says everything. The bikes were comfortable and easy to ride, and the streets felt safe and very manageable, even with kids. Yonni was patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind, with an upbeat attitude the whole time. One of the best tours we’ve done. Highly recommend.

5.00The day we chose for this bike tour was very hot, but the guide adjusted the pace to suit us, taking breaks along the way and guiding us at a relaxed tempo. Although the tour took a little over five hours, the guide was very kind, gave thorough explanations, and had a wonderful smile. I highly recommend this tour.
