A very informative and engaging introduction to the history and significance of mead in Ireland, with interesting insights into mead production as well as the origin and taste of the various honey types processed here. The guide presented everything in a clear, convincing, and friendly manner. The tasting shows that there is also delicious dry mead that deserves its name, which is hardly available in Germany. For mead lovers, this is a fantastic experience that belongs on the bucket list when visiting South Ireland. Parking is available right at the door, and there is also a beautiful view of Kinsale on top of that.

We weren't quite sure what to expect, but what we got was one of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences of our trip. Our guide Cara was simply outstanding — lively, engaging, and clearly passionate about her subject. She wove together history, heritage, and Irish mythology in a way that felt completely natural, turning what could have been a straightforward tasting into something far richer. Her storytelling had us hanging on every word. We were lucky enough to have the tour just for the two of us, which made it feel all the more personal and unhurried — a rare treat. The site itself is on an unusual place, but the tastings did full justice to what's on offer. What struck us most, though, was the broader story: the revival of mead in Ireland feels like a genuine cultural homecoming. This is a drink with deep roots in Irish tradition, and it's wonderful to see it being made with such care and enthusiasm. If you'd told us before the visit that we'd be leaving as mead converts, we wouldn't have believed you. Whether you're a curious first-timer or someone already drawn to Ireland's craft drinks scene, this is an experience that rewards the detour. Cara alone is worth the visit.

I was slightly skeptical about our visit given my experience with mead in the U.S. Our visit exceeded expectations. Cara was our tour guide and she brought a wonderful combination of knowledge, humor and expertise to the tour. It started with an engaging history of mead and background of the company. The tour included a hands on taste of different honey that provides background for the tasting at the end. The mead itself was much better than anticipated!

We had a great time, our guide was very informative and interesting. The mead we brought home was a big hit with our friends that wasn't able to join our trip.

Highly recommend this tour! The tour was very informative (and very well done). The award winning meads in the tasting were wonderful…ended up buying two bottles that I have to figure out how to get in my suitcase for the trip home! I am a beginning home brewer and learned so much from talking to the owner.

Had a fantastic time chatting to Dennis and Kate who run this beautiful Meadery. We had a lovely tasting and a free tour whilst talking to Dennis about the history and business of making mead, even getting advice on my own hobbyist mead based on Dennis’ experience. A truly lovely couple and a fantastic tasting mead well-worth the affordable price. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Super nice owner and tour operator! Learned a lot about the history of mead and got to try their various varieties of different meads. Didn’t know how good mead was until today. Thanks for the knowledge :)
