Sunken city, Little Theatre of Epidaurus. Probably the best outing of our group, due to its unique combination of history, culture, gastronomy, folklore, fun and entertainment. Our incredible experience begins at Yialasi Beach, located a short stroll from the center of Epidaurus. We will paddle westward to the famous Sunken City, also known as Argolida’s Lost Atlantis, with a great view of the imposing Volcano of Methana. The city was built 500 AC. You can see the remains of it and in some places even the ancient breakwater is still preserved. Walls, foundations of buildings, amphorae of huge dimensions and paved sections are sunken, meters below sea level, and only few meters away from shore. Being only two meters in depth, makes it a unique location for underwater site-seeing, snorkeling and underwater pictures. Once we reach the seabed, we will give you masks to swim among the ancient ruins, take photos, observe the unique colorful fish and experience for yourselves the aura and unique healing energy of Epidaurus (Epidaurus: the place where the aura works). When we’ll manage to convince you to move on, our next destination is the Little Theatre of Epidaurus. The Little Theatre of Epidaurus is placed in an area called Nisi, near the port of Palea Epidaurus. It used to be the theatre of the ancient city-state and apart from drama performances, it also hosted religious and political celebrations. This theatre was discovered in the early 1970s, under a field of olive trees and its restoration process continues till today. Its construction started in the 4th century B.C. and was originally built to cover the needs of this small city-state, so its size was not big. It had 9 tiers and 18 rows of seats and could host about 2,000 spectators. Some seats have inscriptions which show that the theatre was dedicated to god Dionysus and was built in sections. This theatre was totally reformed in the Roman times: the orchestra became semi-circular and the seats were reordered. However, it is believed that the small theatre of Epidaurus was in function for only seven centuries since its construction, because the historian Pausanias, who visited the area in the middle of the 2nd century BC, didn't mention anything about it. After several excavations and much restoration work performed over the last decades, the Epidaurus Little Theatre hosts today the annual Greek Festival, celebrated in summer with music, dance and theatre performances. There are seats for 800 spectators and work is done to restore more of them. The performances are mostly held in modern or ancient Greek. At the end of our journey, we will continue through gastronomy, by visiting “Athina EcoFarm”. There, we will relax, rest and enjoy an amazing meal made of local organic products, all cultivated in the area according to the ancient way. Having learned about ancient Greek heritage in cooking, cultivating and harvesting, we will return to our starting point, after an unforgettable journey among history, taste and culture.

Together with George, Tina, and their little dog Lucy, the four of us went on a beautiful kayak trip through the bay in front of Old Epidaurus. It was very educational, and we thoroughly enjoyed the stunning blue-green sea and the views of the coastline. On a small private beach just around the corner, Tina taught Roosje how to weave flower crowns. On the way back, we unexpectedly encountered beautiful turtles and went snorkeling above a submerged Roman villa. Back on the beach, we ended the day with a delicious vegetarian meal prepared by George’s mother. Tina also introduced us to some delightful fruits for dessert, including one with the beautiful name mousmoulo. We truly had a wonderful time!!

It was extraordinary. Relaxing and very well organized guides, nice little kayak trips, snorkeling, fish, a visit to the small theater, the sunken city and a delicious homemade meal. The guides take pictures and videos that they send us afterwards. They give us a lot of relevant information. We loved it. We were with a 14-year-old and an 11-year-old and everything was perfect for us and them.

This was a tremendous outing for our family! From the start, all the staff were warm and very accommodating. The trip started by taking us on adventure to see ruins of the smaller ancient theater. Ioannis had excellent knowledge of the how's and why's of the area. The underwater city was so amazing to see! George's mom fed us delicious stuffed peppers to refuel the rest of the trip. Paddling on top of crystal clear water, surrounded by absolutely beautiful mountains is simply amazing. Highly recommend this trip to feed your mind, body and soul!

Highly recommend doing this kayak tour with Tribal Kayaks, I would have done it again the following day!! Yiannis was our guide and he was brilliant from start to finish, so patient and helpful getting us set up and full of information delivered in an informal way that held our interest. We loved the walk to the small ancient theatre with Yiannis telling us all about the area, trees, soil, etc., on the way and then the visit to the "sunken city" where we had plenty of time to snorkell and swim above it. A big thank you to George's mom for the gorgeous homemade lunch that we were provided with on the beach, yummy! I'd love the recipe! All in all, we thought it was great value for money and had a great day.

We had a wonderful time! We are very good swimmers, but our kayaking experience is minimal. Our guides were so helpful that it was made easy. Lucy, the canine bonus captain, will jump right in your kayak with you. She was an adorable highlight for us! The opportunity to swim and snorkel in the crystal clear waters was incredible, and the sunken city is so interesting. The vegetarian lunch was light and delicious, perfect for the hot day! Highly recommend wearing sunglasses, a hat, and water shoes (Crocs, Tevas, etc. for navigating the shoreline and hot sand). We would absolutely do this again!

George made this an extremely fun kayaking experience! We booked this for my birthday and this was the best way to spend it! George was an expert kayaker who helped us navigate any wavy patches. At one point, we took a mini break from kayaking at one of the beaches to walk through a local neighborhood to an amphitheater ruin, which was really cool to see, and on the way there we picked local berries off the tree. It was truly a wholesome experience. We then snorkeled above the Epidavros ruins in the water, an indescribable feeling. After a fun time of snorkeling above the ruins, George shared lunch with us that were tomatoes and peppers stuffed with rice that his mom made at home. To top it all off, George then surprised me with a birthday cake as my spouse and he started to sing me a happy birthday. It was truly an unforgettable birthday and I recommend the kayaking experience to everyone!! This is truly one of a kind opportunity with an amazing guide!
