We met up with Dildora on 23 September and she took my husband and me on the walking tour. We had such a good time and learned so much! I have never been to Detroit before and had no idea of the rebirth of the downtown. She explained that really it was about great business leaders AND great vision and leadership. As she pointed out various buildings which had been abandoned but reborn and repurposed, we were just so impressed by what has been done and what is still planned to be done. I love the fact that she has cultivated relationships with numerous businesses and they allow her to bring in her tours to show them original architecture, ceilings, windows, artwork and hardware right alongside renovation work. On another note, I mentioned to her that I didn’t see many homeless people outside, and she told us that the city is also repurposing some buildings for safe shelter for homeless people or families and that is also impressive. Dildora has quite a wealth of knowledge about Detroit and I believe the city has a very bright future that pays homage to older architecture.

The tour with Dildora was wonderful. She introduced me to the history (not just of architecture) of her city of Detroit with an awful lot of knowledge and passion. No question went unanswered (even those after a restaurant recommendation) and I was warmly and openly introduced to Detroit's small and big secrets by Dildora. And all in good German. Thank you again.

Due to a scheduling fluke, I had the privilege of being the only person on my tour. Dildora is warm, open, and very knowledgeable about so many aspects of Detroit. Her passion for these tours is very evident, and we covered a lot of ground in a short amount of time. I was very inspired and energized by all of the incredible architecture that we visited—especially when you see images of what these buildings looked like just 10-20 years ago. Downtown Detroit is a true preservation success story, and this tour is a must for anyone visiting!
