This walk is like having a tasting menu of San Cristobal. Food is truly one of the best ways to really learn about people and their culture. Let's show you the barrios from a local perspective. We will have fun trying the traditional regional cuisine from ancient times that we find in the markets and also in those that today are considered the best restaurants in the country. We have no limitations when it comes to eating and we want to show you everything. Even if you don't consider yourself a "foodie" and are just looking for an interesting cultural experience you will enjoy this tour!!

San Cristobal de las Casas
Our first visit will be to taste the traditional Coleta cuisine. We will walk through the market to learn all about the ingredients that we are going to try during our tour. We will also talk about how many of the herbs and spices are used for healing purposes, since in this region Ancestral medicine has survived the modernization of the pharmaceutical sector. We will learn about state products and thus take advantage of the freshest ingredients during our stay.
Includes all tastings at each stop. Does not include alcoholic beverages

We had a wonderful walk through the market and city. We ate and drank in 5 different locations. We liked it very much, ending with a cold beer overlooking the city.

I had a great time with Food Tours San Cristobal de las casas! Abner, my guide, curated a feast across town that felt more like a delicious treasure hunt than a tour. We started with a bang at a restaurant serving Yucatán cuisine, and it only got better from there. Abner shared stories, history, and his knowledge of local herbs and flavors as we made our way to many tucked away gems. We stopped for delicious natural chocolate handmade by the sweetest abuelita, stopped for a cheeky tequila, sampled a funky little pan made with pulque, and dipped into more salsas than I could count. San Cristóbal is a dream for foodies! There’s global variety everywhere mixed with Chiapas soul. This tour is the perfect way to dive in. 10/10 recommend to book it when you arrive so you can revisit all of the great stops!

This was a really great tour from many perspectives. It gave us a good overview of the neighborhoods of San Cristobal; provided an historical perspective; uncovered some great stalls in the locals market for buying spices, produce, etc; and helped us discover some great restaurants that we would never have found if relying solely on things like Tripadvisor, blog posts, and the usual suspects. Cezar took us to some great Mexican food, including local cuisine, but also a great Japanese spot, so it was a good overview of the overall food scene of the city. It's very multi-cultural. Our tour included six very different places. I'd highly recommend this tour.

This is a mixed review as the tour started off poorly. The address was incorrect and when I crossed into the plaza I stood there for awhile before another participant recognized me as a part of the tour. Also the first 2 stops were Japanese and Italian. When I take a food tour I'm interested in that country's food not food from another country. The guide was good and the rest of the tour went well from the walk through the market to the final four stops. I enjoyed Casa de Willy typically Mexican, the Fun mushroom tea store, HAM smoked ham restaurant and my favourite the chocolate shop. My suggestions are: 1. Identify the plaza where you will be meeting clearly as opposed to an incorrect address. 2. Identify the guide with a particular t-shirt or umbrella so the guide and the client can find each other. 3. Write a description of the stops so clients get what they expect. ie. A Mexican food tour

Abner did a great job taking us to restaurants we had not tried before and went to on our own after the tour. We had walked by most of them before but hadn’t stopped.

We had an absolutely brilliant tour with Claudio , without a doubt the best food tour we have ever done ! Not only did we get to taste some great local dishes but we visited markets we would never have found on our own . Claudio has an incredible knowledge of the history and customs of the area and shares them with a huge amount of passion and enthusiasm. We spent significantly longer than we expected and we could have stayed talking and learning all day , a fantastic tour and great value for money. We would highly recommend this tour with Claudio

Amazing food tour! Starting with the local market and through the amazing mural Streets, eating at places that if you’re wandering yourself, you will have a hard time finding them. Claudio was fantastic- my in laws are elderly but he kept the very nice leisurely pace, he spoke very clearly and loud enough that my in laws had no problem while walking up and down the narrow somewhat difficult streets. Food was amazingly delicious and we got all the great recommendations we need! I highly absolutely recommend to have this tour- esp. beginning of your stay in San Cristobal de las Casas so that you don’t miss any of the amazing restaurants ❤️❤️
