Friet Museum
On the ground floor you can learn about the fascinating history of the potato which originated in Peru more than 10,000 years ago. On the first floor, the visitor can discover the history of the fries and how they came to Belgium and in the basement of the building, in the medieval cellars, it is even possible to sample some. The Frietmuseum completes the choice of museums in harmony with all the others which the town of Bruges has to offer and allows the visitor to discover the origins of one of the greatest Belgian culinary specialities, of which we are very proud: potato fries. The museum was created by the families Cédric and Eddy Van Belle who also created in Bruges the Belgian chocolate museum, Choco-Story, and the domestic lighting museum, Lumina Domestica.

Did the combined Chocolate museum and Fry museum ticket. I preferred the Fry museum if just doing one. Who knew there was so much to learn about fried potatoes? Bizarre and entertaining. Entrance ticket gives you a coupon for money off fries at the end.

It is a small museum that will tell you the history of the potato. But lacks, in my opinion, pop culture references around the fries 🍟

It was fun and entertaining. I don't understand all the negativity when I see the other reviews. I went with family (all adults) and we had a very good time. I would go again and absolutely recommend visiting this one.

It was more about potatoes than fries. About how they got to Europe, and how the cultivation process is. It's interactive but a little boring.

The museum is superb and time has passed at a crazy speed. The 2 hours of visit seemed too short so much fun! There are great games for children that make the tour interactive. We much preferred this visit to the chocolate factory, which we found less interesting. Small bonus: the pack of fries on the way out was excellent!

A museum dedicated to potatoes and fries (especially Belgian). The whole is interesting. The engravings are pretty nice. We circulate between the many larger or smaller rooms without having to step back to look at the exhibits. The audio guide doesn’t add much compared to the indications of the wall panels. We paid full rate when we could have had the senior discount if the cashier had thought about it .. she must have wanted to rejuvenate us!!!

We were very pleasantly surprised by this museum! Everything is well detailed, the scenery is superb and the audio guide is really perfect. We had a great time. We are real french fries experts now 😂💪🏻! And the small recipes at the end are really nice! 🍟

Museum was beautifully made and interestingly designed. But you have to use the audio guide, then it's cool. I'm going to try some fries now:)
