Have you ever spent a night suspended on a cliff with a fjord view? Do you know anyone who has done something like that?
We can take you to this special place where you will see the fjord landscape of Hardanger and Folgefonna glacier. We will take a tour through the old hydropower tunnels and get to know the area better.
We are one out of two companies in Norway that offers this "one of a kind" activity. Challenge yourself and try something new!
Public transportation options are available nearby
Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries
Not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health
Suitable for all physical fitness levels
Not suitable for children under the age of 8 years.
Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
If you would like to bring your pet, please be aware that it will not be able to sleep in the tent.
Please be aware that we need to limit the consumption of alcohol due to safety reasons. We therefore ask you to not bring any hard liquor on the tour. If in doubt, your guide will have the last word and might not allow you to access the portaledge tent or get close to the cliff side and can decide to walk you back down to the parking and therewith end the tour. We hold the responsibility for your personal safety and therefore ask for your understanding, especially since Norwegian laws are very strict on alcohol consumption.
You access your tent for the night via a rope ladder. You are secured and assisted by a professional guide at all times. Nevertheless, this activity requires a good level of fitness, and you should not be afraid of heights. If you decide that you would rather spend your night more grounded, we have regular tents available.
You need to bring warm clothing that suits the time of year and the weather of the day.
You need to bring your own personal medications.
Bring a bottle of water, at least 1 liter.
For safety reasons there is a weight limit of 100kg per person (total 200kg) for sleeping in the portaledges. If you exceed this limit but would still like to book this tour, we can provide you with an alternative on the ground – with the same stunning views.
For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.
We will provide you with the necessary safety equipment for climbing down and sleeping in the portaledges.

During this activity, you will spend the night in a portaledge tent suspended on a cliff overlooking the fjord. These tents were developed by professional climbers for multi-day climbs. Since you are accompanied by an experienced guide, you don’t need prior climbing experience – just a good sense of adventure! The hike to your accommodation is a beautiful little path that takes you around 1h and opens up to spectacular views. Once you reach camp, your guide will show you around the area. You then have time to enjoy this beautiful piece of Norwegian nature and take a wander around. Dinner is prepared at camp and served by the bonfire – if the weather allows for it. You spend the evening with stories and amazing views before you climb down into your tent hanging on the cliff side 400m above Sørfjorden overlooking Folgefonna Glacier. After a beautiful evening and night out in the wilderness, you will be served breakfast before you pack up and hike back to civilization.

This is- by far- one of the coolest things that my husband and I have ever done! I was a little nervous at first, but our guide, Richard, put us at ease immediately and had complete confidence in us the entire time. The hike to the top was beautiful, and the decent to the tent was even better. Richard took us on a tour of a former hydroelectric plant and made us an incredible dinner- like, a REAL dinner- fish, vegetables and salad. Sleeping in the tent was super memorable, the views were breathtaking, and breakfast in the morning (again, a REAL breakfast that included coffee!) capped off an amazing time. I would do this again without hesitation and recommend it to anyone visiting Norway!

Literally one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. Our guide, Esther, made this so wonderful. It ended up being just myself and my boyfriend but that made it to where it felt like us and Esther were just old friends going on a camping trip. She provided us dinner and breakfast, talked to us about Norwegian history and culture, and she took us on a history tour of the hydroelectric buildings at the top of Lilletop. This is something that I want to do again, just because it was so much fun doing it this time. Don’t let fear stop you, it’s very safe, and Esther takes every precaution to make sure you’re safe on top of the cliff and in the tent. 10/10 would recommend and do again

Purchased gift cards on this experience for our 30th anniversary-my wife was very skeptical in advance, but it became a very great experience. Richard was relaxed and we got to come the same day I called, along with a nice couple from the United States. In a fantastic weather in a completely raw environment. The next day we ended with a common bath in the southfjorden😄👍- Thank you to Richard for a safe and good accommodation with good food and great entertainment, as well as interesting insight into the history of the power industry in the area. This was a perfect finish to our 2 week vacation in the Scandinavian country. From the communication to the hike, the tour of the hydro plant and nature around , food and of course the cliff camping was just perfect. We even had fresh food including a light appetizer for dinner and a warm breakfast. The cliff camping is amazing & very safe - takes about 5 mins to get comfortable in the tent but once you settled you feel extremely safe and enjoy the experience. The views are as good as the hike to troll tunga without the long 8 hrs hike. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking for something different but safe and adventurous. Richard and ester are amazing and thank you for an awesome time. My teens and spouse will always remember this experience

Experience was easy to book and communication with the organisers was good throughout The cliff camping is exactly what it says on the tin and an unforgettable experience. Some of our group were apprehensive about fear of heights, but we had no issues in the end with the help of our excellent guide Richard. All our needs were catered for- thanks Richard and team!

This experience was on my bucket list and did not disappoint! My guide Richard was amazing in every way. First and foremost, I always felt safe. You do not need specific rock climbing experience to enjoy this tour, but if you are afraid of heights this may not be for you! He also is very knowledgeable about the area and the old power plant we toured (which was an unanticipated bonus experience). And last but not least, he is an amazing cook! Shared fresh cherries and fruit from the garden, as well as other typical local snacks and beverages. Dinner was also sublime and breakfast delicious. The “base camp” at Lilletop is simple but lovely and comfortable. And of course the cliff portal edges are exhilarating and also comfortable, with amazing views of the fjord and area. Easy to book, they are very accommodating to different needs and provide an experience of a lifetime. Highly recommend.

We started the hike with sun and blue sky, which made the trip already amazing. Getting to camp we were welcomed with hand-picked tea and some biscuits and with a stunning view over the Fjord. Since we were both new to climbing and one of us not too crazy about the heights, Richard and Esther really took their time to explain every single detail about safety precautions, harness, ropes and the tent - finally sitting in the tent for the first time actually felt amazing and We could habe sat there forever!!! Besides feeling safe with Esther and Richard they also provided us with a tasty dinner and lots of information about the area and the water power station at Lilletop. After a full day, we climbed in our tent and fall asleep to the sound of the waterfall. The night was surprisingly cozy and neither harness nor rapes disturbed our sleep. Waking up to the view and a lovely breakfast made this an adventure to remember. Thank you Esther and Richard!

It was a great experience!! The first contact was very pleasant. All questions and uncertainties were answered and explained in detail right from the start. Our guide was very friendly, competent and helpful. The equipment seemed new and very high quality. The food was great and plentiful. Requests, intolerances and allergies were taken into account. And finally, the view over the fjord was fantastic!! We would definitely book it again.
