You are going to visit one of the places most visited in Asturias, two charming fishing villages knowing their traditions and way of life from the sea and land.
The first village we will visit is Luarca, knowing as “ the white village of the green coast”, it is a peaceful fishing village since the Middle Ages and preserves many remains of this glorious past. We will enter a journey into the past, the fishing life, and the elegance of the bourgeois style.
Our next stop is Cudillero, one of the most visited places in Asturias, a picturesque fishing village declared a historic-artistic complex in which the houses hang from the mountain wearing bright colors creating a wonderful view. Cudillero is known for its gastronomy mixing tradition and creativity, providing a very pleasant aroma in every street of the town. You will be impressed with the quality and variety of fishing products and If the tides allow us we can see the sailors arrive and attend the fishing auction in the port.

Cudillero is a beautiful little town! But beware - as you first go through town down by the touristy part of the marina where the little cabana shops are, there is parking on both sides of the street. We got lucky and came by just as someone was pulling out, so we took their spot. When we got back a few hours later, we had a pretty pricey parking ticket.... Upon closer inspection, there are signs - but only in Spanish - saying that parking along this street is for locals only. If you don't read Spanish, they'll get you. Keep driving a little further along the marina and there's plenty of free parking. Seems to me that this is a really nice set up for the town. They're making A LOT of money off us tourists. How hard would it be to put up the signs in English too?

The tour was superb. My guide and the information he shared was fantastic. This is the way to learn about people and their history.

We absolutely loved Cudillero and Luarca. These hidden gems are not to be missed. The views were remarkable and the villages gave us an insight into the lives of the locals. Make sure you enjoy a seafood meal, it is probably the freshest and tastiest I’ve ever had. I do wish our guide had made arrangements for us to see an Indiana house, they looked so beautiful from the exterior. This side trip is well worth it and you will be transported to another place and time.
