Villages, viewpoints and volcanic rocks dot Gran Canaria's jagged spine. This tour weaves its way through some of the island's most dramatic landscapes, stopping along the way to visit gems such as Teror, Tejeda and Fataga.

And Teror is where your adventure begins. Strolling past the balconied townhouses of Calle Real de la Plaza towards the mountain-framed basilica of Our Lady of the Pine is one of the defining Gran Canaria experiences. A scenic mountain drive away is Tejeda, which is a bit of a looker itself – red-roofed, whitewashed houses sprinkled on the slope of a valley.

There's also a pit stop at Las Tirajanas viewpoint to admire a vast volcanic caldera, as we make our way to Fataga to eat. A lunch made from locally sourced ingredients will be served in a family-owned restaurant. After a little amble through the town, we'll visit a nearby aloe vera plantation to get the lowdown on its medicinal properties.

Superb tour thanks to Alan who gave us so much information from start to finish. Local knowledge of Gran Canaria over the years. Beautiful villages, lovely lunch and the Aloe Vera stop was a bonus. No hard sell just lots of interesting information. Overall can highly recommend this tour. 5*****

Fast pace itinerary, but worth it to fit in some key sites. Good commentary. Driving is more than actual time spent, but not a deal breaker. It gives you a good overview if you want to go back to the towns to spent more time there. Lunch was OK. Lunch is at a restaurant where all the tour groups stop. Suggest getting in, eat quickly and try and see a bit of the town.

  • Pleasant but not what was expected

Our tour guide Alan was absolutely fab. He was very knowledgeable and shared the odd joke here and there. The tour wasn’t quite what we expected, we did have a great tour of the island. We also had a minibus with no working aircon and we were in the vehicle for over 5hours, not great on a day that started at 30°. The wine tasting was sangria which neither myself or husband like, the 2 cheeses were brought out on a plate, we were given no talk about them or an option to buy them but to be honest by the time we got off the sweltering coach none of us were in the mood to eat. Our food choice was either fish, pasta or veal stew. We had pasta which we just moved around the plate. The free glass of cola and one glass of water were most welcomed. The couple of villages that we stopped at were very picturesque with 35mins at each of them. Finished off at the aloe Vera shop where there was a brief talk from one of the staff members, we are glad we have done it and as I say could not fault Alan’s knowledge and hats off to the driver for navigating the risky turns, would I do this tour again? No.
