Cat Ba National Park covers 15,200 ha, including 9,800 ha of forest and 5,400 ha of sea surface. In particular, the strict protection area of 800 hectares is the primary forest, the remaining 14,000 hectares is the ecological restoration.
Cat Ba is a special national park with a combination of different ecosystems: limestone forest ecosystems in the limestone mountains, wet highland ecosystems, mangrove ecosystems, marine ecosystems with inshore reefs, cave systems with distinctive habitat for bats and plantations located between valleys such as Khe Sau or communes along the valey.

What To Expect
8.00: Van and tour guide pick up 8.20: ToNational Park gate. Buy entrance fee and start trekking. 8.30 -11.30: On the trail through the tropical forest you will be immersed in nature and see many butterfly.. 11.30: You will stop at frog pond (trail from Park gate to frog pond is 6 km). This is the largest freshwater lake in the middle of the National Forest. From the bottom of the pond, reaching up to thousands of trees and water - the species is only found in the Frog ponds not found anywhere else in the island. There are many types of fish and crab in the pond. 12.00 - 13.00: continue the journey from Frog Pond to Viet Hai village (3.5 km) This is a small village of local residents with about 100 families. 13.00: Have lunch and take a rest at Viet Hai village, take a fun experience by fish massage your feet. 14.00: free to explore the lives of people in the village, Cycling 5km to Viet Hai harbor. 15.00: Boat will take you through Lan Ha Bay, you have a chance to admire the scenery of beautiful Lan Ha Bay, Cai Beo fishing village. Our boat will stop at a floating house to take kayak then rows to a wild beach for swimming 16.45: Back to Cai Beo pier, Car take you to Cat Ba town.

5.00This experience was the highlight of our stay in Cat Ba, full day of hiking, cycling and kayaking in the National Park. The hike was the best part, as we were able to spot a lot of animals. Anh is a great guide, with a good english and sense of humour.

We had a fabulous walk and thank you for your patience ☺️ We really enjoyed taking our time to explore the forest and jungle ~ thank you for showing us and our son all the animals living there ~ I won’t ever forget those spiders and cute frogs!! Also those butterflies were stunning!! Thanks for organising the small boat back and being flexible ~ we have such lovely memories from the video you made us. Thank you for everything and to others planning their days ~ we would highly recommend this trip with Anh ❤️

5.00This tour was one of the best I have ever been to. We were only three people, picked up and dropped at our hotels. (Mine was not even on the list…) Our guide Anh spoke English very well and had a great eye to notice animals in the jungle. The hike was very interesting, it had everything from easy roads to quite challenging scrambling. We arrived to the Viet Hai village for a delicious lunch (that took into consideration all our dietary restrictions) and a fish massage. After that we rode to the harbour by bicycles on an easy and very scenic road. The cruise boat we boarded on was very pretty and comfy, and the Lan Ha bay, as expected, spectacular. We stopped at one place for kayaking and swimming. Finally, we returned to Catba passing by a floating village and were driven home to our hotels. As a cherry on top of the cake, Anh recorded videos throughout the day and created a short film of our adventures, all ready and Airdropped to our phone by the end of the tour. If I ever come back, I will sign up again. Much more interesting than the boat tour.

3.00Dangerous sections. Beware. With a slight misstep a person could easily be seriously injured. We are 4 experienced hikers too. And our pickup did not occur as scheduled. Only after I walked to the tourism office did they send a taxi to pick us up an hour after our scheduled time.

5.00Fabulous day of activity with Anh, his ability to spot the spiders and other animals was amazing. He told us about the parks and the environs and was always considerate and polite. The activities were great, a real variety and all were enjoyable.

5.00We did this trip today and it surpassed our expectations. Anh was our guide and he was really knowledgeable and helpful. The trek was taxing but so worth it for the views. The trip is excellent value for money - it's a day packed with activities and stress free as you're picked up and dropped off at your hotel. The groups are small too which we loved. Highly recommend this your to anyone in Cat ba!

5.00It was a super nice day. I highly recommend the tour. Anh was a great guide who even made us a video about the day. However, you should be in good physical shape, as the ascents and descents are quite demanding.
