We did the full day motorbike tour in Mu Cang Chai with Yien. We got to see many hidden local sights and we were able to see many terraced rice fields, up close and personal ! The waterfall was nice, bamboo forest was peaceful and the terraced rice fields were majestic ! Yien would also help take lots of photos which was great. We took a lunch break at his home where his wife prepared a delicious lunch ! I would recommend wearing clothes/shoes you don’t mind getting dirty because it was quite muddy around the rice fields. It was my first time on a motorbike and it was scary but exciting, just make sure you hold on 😂. I would definitely do it again because it was so fun and you really get a snapshot into the local life 😬. Thanks Yien for an awesome tour !

Timeless moment, in a splendid preserved setting. Mountain discovery and Hmong culture. Favorite of our trip for this family full of generosity and desire to share. We extended the discovery the next day with a day of discovery of family life. Thank you to them for this emotional experience!

I already did this tour in September 2019, and I was so excited to do it again ! It was just as wonderful as in my memory ! Yien / Ding who is the main host organizes everything for you from the pick up by scooter at the bus station to the motorbike tour/ rice fields trek, and he is such a charming and naturally funny gentleman ! By the way the Indigenous Homestay they had just opened, and thankfully they made it through COVID, and the house is even nicer and with still the same authenticity! - you share the dinner / lunch with the family at the same table - the rooms are basic hutts but they are very clean and have an amazing view over the rice fields - the family is so lovely and sweet ! - food is local and sooo good ! According to season vegetables

The excursion is very fun you pass through spectacular landscapes and also take you to a lot of sites very difficult to access. The bamboo forest is impressive and the rice fields look like they were taken from a science fiction film. The food is delicious and overall we had a great time 100 × 100 recommended!

TLDR- THIS IS THE BEST TOUR YOU CAN GET IN MU CANG CHAI. ENGLISH-SPEAKING TOUR GUIDES, AMAZING LOCAL EXPERIENCE, THE ONLY TOUR WITH WILD HONEY HARVESTING!! Dont even bother looking elsewhere, I looked everywhere, you simply won't find anywhere better 😂 Long review incoming because that's how much I loved it. If you read this you HAVE to come to do a tour with Yien and his family. We started off the day with a wild bee honey harvest tour. We climbed and hiked up a beautiful little forest to where Yien's brother in law had found a beehive. We watched him climb the tree to get to it. Absolutely crazy and skilled! The honey is also so different to anything I've tasted -a floral, fruity, sweet nectar. We got 100ml free with the tour, I just wish I bought more bottles of it to support the family and share with my friends. Such a unique, fun, adventurous activity. Yien told me that this activity wasn't always available because they had to find a hive that was accessible first but definitely test your luck and ask! We then went to Yien and his family's home where we ate a delicious lunch 🤤(part of the tour). They showed us the way they usually eat, and showed us how they made rice wine. We then moved on to the second tour - the motorbike tour around terrace rice fields. This was really fun and Yien explained the way people live here and how the rice fields fed the people here. The sights were just breathtaking. He took us to all the famous places, but I personally think a lot of the places we passed and his little secret viewpoint stops were the main winners. I definitely recommend the full day tour so you can see the dinosaur spine mountain. He also took us to a bamboo forest in a different commune which was beautiful, but apparently they just started pettily charging the motorbikes tour guides recently due to being competitive with Yien's commune (The rice fields in Lapantan commune didn't) I found this interesting😂 and paid them anyways. I travelled to Vietnam mainly for the food. When I kept rambling on about food and my interest in Hmong food to Yien, he offered to take me home to eat dinner with his family. Best meal I have had in Vietnam. (This is not part of the tour but definitely a bonus - especially if you stay with him) Best of all, this entire family was so kind, accommodating and welcoming. Talking to them and being around them warmed my heart. It really felt like I was having fun with friends. Thank you so much !!! I am now in love with Mu Cang Chai.

We had an amazing experience at the indigenous homestay. Yeng and his family were incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The food was fresh and delicious, with the pork, fried potatoes, and banana fritters being our favorites. The highlight of our trip, however, was the tour—farming, harvesting wild honey, and the thrilling motorcycle ride. Thank you for an unforgettable adventure!
