Me and my friend were literally the only tourists in the area, the lodge is in a small native community with electricity. Very unique experience exploring the forest and river. Bring insect repellent, do not believe the locals when they say there is no malaria in Rio Negro (in fact Rio Negro waters are more likely to carry malaria).

Quality expertise. The campsite, facilities and food were all superb. Our guide Osmar was first class and an amazing hunter - he can find any animal - monkeys, sloths, alligators - and at night. The final day swimming with dolphins capped a great three day trip. If you love touring the Amazon on a speedboat. This trips for you. And even the mosquitos hardly bit, and I always get bitten. The trip was everything we hoped for and more. From the time we met Pepe our guide to the time that Marcos the driver returned us to the hotel everything went well.

It was fun and educational. Cobra, our guide, is native to the area and knew all the best spots to catch fish, crocodiles, and see wildlife. Very knowledgable, great tour guide. Hiking through the jungle was reasonable and necessary. Meeting with the indigenous people of the Amazon was the best. I highly recommend this tour.

This was a fantastic, once in a lifetime 3 days and 2 nights tour! You’re always nervous booking trips in a different country when there aren’t many reviews but this gamble paid off. Joshua’s Amazon Expeditions is well run, their communication is good and with Cobra, they surely have the best Guide there is. Growing up there, his local knowledge meant we could experience the real Amazonia. He’s well educated which meant he was teaching us for the duration of the trip. Thank you Cobra! Tucan Lodge met expectations, please do not expect luxury but for somewhere so remote, it met our needs for a short trip. Staff were friendly, food was satisfactory, AC was ineffective (electric fan worked better) and it had WiFi (which is a good or bad thing depending on which way you look at it!). Mosquito repellent is a must...the little blighters.
