The main focus of this tour is the glacier hike. We did not learn much about the waterfalls and black beach, maybe because there is nothing very interesting about them, though they look good. Black beach restaurant is quite good. The glacier hike is fun, easy, and safe. The guide for the hike is experienced and humorous.

Gylfi was incredible on the glacier, I felt safe and well cared for. However, he never told us his name until he asked for us to review his tour. He was a bus driver that came to life on the glacier. Nice to have a small group, but the seat belt made me feel like I was in a straight jacket!

Did the Glacier Hike with the Icelandic tour company. It was amazing. Only a small group of four plus our guide Denis Rosa. It was a three hour glacier hike and I was able to hire the necessary wet weather gear and hiking boots. Our guide explained the equipment needed to us and we set off. The first half hour is a walk through ashy terrain then a stop to put on crampons and then onto the glacier. It is not a hard hike but had to get used to walking with crampons on the ice. Our guide,Denis, informed us about the glacier and its movements. He was most attentive and really helped me as it was my first time walking with crampons and had to adjust my walking style. It was an unforgettable experience and a great way to find out more about Iceland

If travelling in winter…. Buy crampons before you go… The ONLY downside to this trip for me, was not having my own crampons for the stops before the glacier. There was solid ice at both waterfalls which actually limited how close you can get to them safely or realistically, at all! A couple I saw from a different tour, didn’t go beyond the car park. It’s perfectly possible you just have to go real slow and, we didn’t have an hour at the stops it was only 20 minutes sadly. Plenty long enough to see the falls and get a good picture. Not long enough if you need the bathroom or have to buy food. So get your food at Bonus the day before :-D I nearly didnt book the trip as one review mentioned ‘not for the timid!’ I’m terrified of heights and I can safely say, this timid gal had a ball. Yes there are a couple of mid-way steep descents on the return but with crampons, you aren’t sliding anywhere. They give you such a sense of feeling safe . As a first time user, I was very impressed with exactly how safe I felt. The hike is not at speed. There was a spot where I got a tad breathless but not to the point of lagging behind or needing medical assistance. Our driver Thora, was really knowledgable and shared loads of info about Iceland on route. Thora even got us back on time despite having to wait for latecomers back to the bus. We were back just after 8 pm. The waterfalls and black beach were stunning, so worth seeing. The glacier hike was the absolute highlight. I can’t even begin to describe the amazing wonder of being up close to a glacier, far less the incredible sights you will see once on top of the ice itself. The different colours are amazing and tiger stripes with the ash layers in amid the cobalt blue… Wow! Our guide was fabulous: fun, full coverage f interesting facs and absolutely mindful of keeping you safe… so listen to them. He even looked out for some members of other groups who unbelievably, were walking on the lagoon ice and, going into a cave where the glacier had split and the two sides buckled to form an amazing cave. Honestly those guys…. Think a little hub! If you’re considering this trip, consider no more… go ahead and book. Definitely unforgettable and a massive tick the box on your bucket list Thoroughly enjoyed this amazing experience. Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️

This was the best tour we did while visiting Iceland! Unbelievably beautiful scenery and a very knowledgeable tour guide. Every stop was more and more breathtaking. Glacier hike was unreal, the most gorgeous place I’ve ever been. The glacier hike looks more challenging than it was, tour guides make sure you have all the right safety gear and feel prepared before you begin the hike.

Went on this excursion as part of study abroad. Darren and Helgi were amazing guides. The tour was informative and a lot of fun. It was a pleasure to explore the South of Iceland with them - definitely one of my favorite days of my trip.
