If you've been looking for a tour guide that knows everything there is to know about the complex history of Galveston, and the hundreds of human interest stories that came out of the Great Storm, then look no further than Gin! At every turn on this tour, Gin delivered stories with vivid detail and humanity. It's refreshing to hear someone so committed to uplifting the resiliency of the city without shying away from the horrors of the storm. Plus, the Galveston County Museum is a true hidden gem that I would've never gotten to see had it not been for starting this tour there! This tour is the real deal!

Great tour! So nice to start at the Galveston County Museum (free parking!). They had a coroner's book, artifacts, plus other local history stories. The walking part of the tour gives good info and I like being in the place where history happened!

"The Great Storm Talk and Tour" was simply fantastic. I learned so much, and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about Galveston's history, and in particular The Great Storm of 1900. What made the Tour particularly special was to hear the history told along with vivid stories of the men, women, and children involved, and then to see the actual sites and buildings that were effected by these events. It was all done really well.

Great discussion about the hurricanes. Mostly focused on the storm of 1900 but also some info on more recent storms. My kids loved the tour.

This tour begins with you being guided through artifacts in the Galveston County Museum and includes seeing footage by Thomas Edison’s moving picture machine (the aftermath of the storm in Galveston was actually the first newsreel!) and then being guided around downtown buildings and being told their stories! Chilling aspects are seeing coroner notes on the discovered dead and artifacts on display that could identify them to loved ones. And maybe still could? Who knows! Take this tour! The magnitude of this horrendous event will come alive for you!

Our guide was outstanding. Extremely knowledgeable and eager to share her knowledge with us. She was kind and checked in with us often, as we walked about. I would recommend this tour to everyone who visits Galveston Island.
