Al-Balad
Al-Balad was founded in the 7th century and historically served as the centre of Jeddah. Al-Balad is mainly divided into number of different district . In 2009, Al-Balad was nominated by Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities to be added to UNESCO's World Heritage list, and it was accepted in 2014.

5.00We enjoyed a really great tour of the Al Balad neighborhood with Ferial in February 2026. She's very knowledgeable, explains a lot about the history, about life in Jeddah in general and also shares her own story. She provides helpful tips and insights you would otherwise not find easily. We also tasted some nice delicacies from the nighttime food market. We can highly recommend this tour with Ferial.

5.00Our tour with Ferial was exceptional! Our timing was particularly unique, as we had our tour on the evening before Ramadan began. We had such lovely discussions about the history of Jeddah, how Ramadan is celebrated in Jeddah, what daily life is like in Saudi’s second largest city, and so much more. Ferial is incredibly knowledgeable and a pleasure to speak with! We particularly enjoyed our visit to Ukash Mosque, which you can only visit with a guide. Thank you for a wonderful evening, we learned so much!

She shared a wealth of specific knowledge about the city's recent history and current social developments. She was also very attentive to our personal questions and concerns. She also contributed her own personal experiences, which made it particularly lively and interesting. 5.00Seeing Al Balad, old town Jeddah, in the evening is magical! Fariel, our guide, was great fun, shared so many wonderful details of the area, great information given... Loved every minute... Including the great Chipati snack, Fatayir, at the end! Didn't miss this!!
