Good morning, I would be very remiss not to reach out to Polynesian Adventures to describe the experience my group and I experienced yesterday during our Haleakalā Sunset Tour. We arrived at our pick up point early, at 1:15 and were promptly picked up by your shuttle driver. After he asked one of our male passengers when his baby was due (the gentleman has just lost 30 pounds and is proud of it) we drove in circles to pick up three more passengers over the next hour. Two we picked up at our hotel. We stopped and waited at Safeway twice, for no evident reason. We then went to the transfer point where we joined five other passengers. Looking at the top of the mountain/volcano I asked our driver what the chances of things clearing up there were. He was vague and urged me to climb aboard. The driver was very knowledgeable and we learned much about the island. Once we reached the summit, about 90 minutes before sunset, we perhaps saw sunshine no more than five minutes over the next 90 minutes. As well as the driver and your company know the island, I am sure you knew this would be the case. The driver even spoke with the park ranger half way up who told him it was pretty “soupy “ up there. As we sat with little to do over the 90 minutes, we were finally served dry sandwiches and salad and expected to eat them on our laps , juggling everything. The only thing offered to drink was lukewarm instant coffee, tea or hot chocolate. “It was hot when I put it in there” we were told. That was four hours ago! This isn’t your first rodeo! So then we made it safely down the mountain to the pickup point, only it was not the correct pickup point. Nobody told our driver the point had changed and we had to drive 30 minutes out of our way to rendezvous with our driver. And, to make it even more ridiculous, you ended up with three vehicles to transport us when you only needed two. Great communication! So, to sum it up, we lost eight hours of our vacation for no views (I understand that is Mother Nature), nothing to drink for eight hours, an insult by our driver, and all this only cost us $250+ per person. Obviously, I am not happy, nor was anyone in my group nor any other riders.

Our guide was knowledgeable, the bus was comfortable, and the view was UNREAL! 11/10 experience!

DO NOT BOOK THE HALEAKALA MAUI SUNSET TOUR OR ANY TOUR WITH POLYNESIAN ADVENTURE. What a disorganized tour group. We received 2 confirmations with instructions and pick-up times only to be left waiting in the hot Maui sun for 45 minutes. When calling to inquire where the driver was, call went to Oahu who had to call the group in Maui and I was disconnected several times. Then we were told the driver would be there in an HOUR! So I asked about 2 hours being knocked off our tour (which cost $500.00+ for two of us) and was told we “might” make the sunset. We said we were not interested and asked for a refund. Then we received a voice message as we were walking back to our villa saying they would have an Uber driver pick us up. Not another tour guide but someone without any knowledge bring us to the top. We have a car and could drive ourselves or we could order an Uber on our own for much less than this tour cost. We thought we were getting a tour guide to talk about the sights we were seeing, and for both of us to relax and enjoy the sights. What a disappointment this has been. I can honestly say this is the only bad experience I have had using Trip Advisor/Viator and I have used them a lot both domestic and international. I was unable to give a ZERO rating. It was not worthy of even 1 star.

Polynesian adventure called me at 1:15 for a 1:25 departure and said there was a engine problem with vehicle said 30 minute delay So we waited for over an hour still no pick up. No updates no nothing called them and stated we were not waiting any longer Canceled and they refunded my trip but not my wasted time and disappointment

So unfortunately, let’s start off with the fact that the bus that was supposed to pick us up never did originally. We had to drive 45 minutes to 2 different locations to get picked up. The logistics was not good. They are not set up to pick up but yet offer a pick up on the original advertisement. Dispatch was friendly, but seems like communication was bad . I must admit, though to their credit they did give us a 50% discount and apologize for the inconvenience.. This experience is extremely weather dependent. It was drizzling and raining at the top of the mountain so we encountered a lot of fog. Overall, it is worth it. I just feel like it would’ve been a better experience if the weather was better. I’m still glad I made the adventure despite all of the bumps in the road.

This tour is worth it! The sunset was beautiful and worth the long drive. It was so cool to be above the clouds!

I've never been there. The bus forgot about me. I couldn't get postponed or reimbursed. At this rate it was unacceptable

40 degrees and windy at the top; long drive. Worth the time for the great view and the stories along the way.
