Our first activity is Safari Float at the Peñas Blancas River, which is one of the region’s most scenic and peaceful rivers. Its banks are bordered by towering rainforest trees draped in delicate vines that sway above the river’s surface. Countless wildlife species live in this unique habitat, including white-faced and howler monkeys, sloths, lizards, bats, caimans, and a fascinating assortment of water birds—an enchanting experience for the whole family. Then we go to the Cacao Gallery Tour for your day of adventure. During this experience, guests will visit Rainforest Explorers’ cacao gallery, orchard, and organic farm and sample exotic fruits and sugarcane juice before participating in the chocolate-making process and learning the fascinating tale of its origins. Making your own Mexica chocolate and sweets is a delicious part of the tour’s magic.

What To Expect
Relax and enjoy a tropical paradise from the comfort of your raft, while paddling down the flat and tranquil water of Peñas Blancas river, you guide will point out different species that live in this ecosystem, spider and howler monkeys, sloths, lizards, a good variety of tropical birds and with a pinch of luck some crocodiles. Safari Float at Peñas Blancas river is very adaptable to all type of travelers, all you need for this tour is to be a nature lover.
Are you a chocolate lover? Who isn’t right! Well with this tour you’ll not only be a chocolate lover, but also, a chocolate expert. Enjoy the whole process from the tree to the table! You will have the opportunity to experience a real and organic chocolate plantation at the family farm “Finca Bienestar”, here your guide will explain how we grow the fruit and also will teach you some of the history and importance of cacao for our culture. And last but not least you will enjoy an exclusive chocolate making and tasting experience.

5.00This company was positively AMAZING, informative, kind, and what a great value! They all are excellent and share their culture and information readily and in such a wonderful manner! The family atmosphere permeates all they do! Positively amazing family and employees! We loved the safari float, and especially learned so much on the chocolate making! It was a highlight of our time! Lunch was amazing as well! We later did 2 more tours , mistico and the lava flow! Rafa was with us all day and he is an exceptional guide! What a kind and wonderful person and an absolute pleasure to learn from! I can’t stress enough how great this company was to work with from reservation through the activities! 12 out of 10 recommend! We’ll be back!

5.00We had so much fun last week- very grateful to do the 3-in-1 tour with Isaac! I was blown away by how knowledgable he was and that's saying a lot because I know a lot about birds LOL. We wouldn't have seen half the wildlife on the river without him, because everything is camouflaged and hidden so well. Iguanas and howler monkeys high up in the trees. A sloth right off the bat. The make your own chocolate tour was amazing too. I'm so sorry I forgot the guy's name but he was excellent with the process and chocolate information. Isaac turned out to be my fav guide on our 10 day trip. Highly recommend this company and thank you again for your time and expertise!

5.00Mario and Tony were awesome guides on the river safari. They were both very knowledgable and friendly. We all had a great time. The snack and refreshments in between the safari and chocolate tour at Cafe Mila were delicious! We thoroughly enjoyed the chocolate portion of the tour too. We learned so much about the process and history of making chocolate. It was hands on and fun, and such a great experience. The lunch that was provided was excellent. It was an all around awesome experience!

5.00I can't recommend them more! One of the best tours I've been on anywhere. Pepe was our guide along the river. He did a great job finding animals and explaining their background. The chocolate farm tour was also incredible. I've been on other chocolate tours and you see huge trays of roasted cacao pods and the machines that process them. Here, they show you the entire process. They put the pods in the grinder and you can turn the crank. You have the opportunity to make your own chocolate and eat it a bit later. The lunch was the best meal I had in Costa Rica. They make it from scratch. I'm usually wary of lunches that included with tours- they're usually sandwiches with cold cuts. This was a real meal. You felt like you were at someone's house.

5.00We saw monkeys, various birds, fish, plants, and so much other wildlife. The chocolate making was very informative and delicious. We should have brought a pair of binoculars to get a better view of the sloths.

5.00We had such a good time. The float tour was amazing. We saw a lot of animals and our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. The best part was lunch. Eduardo’s family was wonderful hosts and one of the highlights was seeing a toucan eat off of the birdfeeder at the restaurant.

5.00Wonderful morning! We really enjoyed touring a farm and making chocolate. Really interesting information and a fun way to start the day. Afterwards the float tour was fantastic. Saw a ton of animals and birds followed by a delicious lunch. Highly recommend this tour company.

5.00Such a wonderful experience! Truly magical. Saw lots of animals on the safari float - my kids loved spotting animals and learning about them. The chocolate making was so interesting and engaging for both kids and grownups. They got to try various stages and participate in making the chocolate. Such kind and genuine people in such a gorgeous setting. Thank you so much for a wonderful day!

5.00We did a 3 in 1 tour with a safari river float, La Fortuna waterfall and chocolate farm experience. It was an amazing day in Costa Rica seeing sloths, monkeys, lizards and even a crocodile on the river followed by snacks then headed to the waterfall. After a swim in the falls and the hike back to the van, we headed to their farm where we had the best meal in Costa Rica and toured their family farm. We picked a pineapple and cocoa pod and then headed back to make our own chocolates. Our kids (7&12) loved it and we had a great experience! The family was lovely, welcoming and warm and shared their amazing space with us. Overall a great experience and excellent adventure where we learned a lot about Costa Rica!
