Sagiridai Observatory

Sagiridai Observatory is one of the most popular scenic spots in Yufu, offering a sweeping panoramic view of the Yufuin Basin with the majestic Mt. Yufu rising in the background. Especially breathtaking at sunrise, the area is often covered in a mystical morning mist — called “sagiri” in Japanese — which gives the observatory its name. It's a perfect stop for photos, quiet reflection, or simply taking in the beauty of Yufuin’s natural landscape. Easily accessible by car, it’s a must-see highlight on your journey between Beppu and Yufuin.

I was impressed and enjoyed the views were lovely. Great option if you want to avoid busy bus ques. Guide was very sweet and drive nice too.

It was probably the easiest way to get from Beppu to Yufuin especially if you have to carry big and heavy suitcases, even more so when there's like a long queue for the bus. There's a bit of flexibility that you can discuss with the driver for drop-off spots, but I just opt to get dropped-off near the Kinrinko Lake so its easier to get around. 3,000 yen wasn't too bad as well since the taxis would've costed more.
Definitely hassle free and scenic journey!

I was really happy to be able to join this tour! The view along the way was really beautiful especially when it is closer to Yufu City. The seat was spacious and comfortable, I’m glad that I didn’t have to queue at the bus stop and stand all the way :))
