Katarina was a wonderful culinary tour guide for our evening in Beyoglu. She encouraged us to explore all types of food and drink and provided us with exceptional experiences that only a local would uncover. Her appreciation for her home city and its history and food culture was exceptional.

My wife Emma and I had an incredible time on our Culinary Backstreets tour and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Istanbul. A special mention goes to our guide, Duygu, who was excellent throughout. She was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and approachable, and made the experience x10 more enjoyable. Her passion for the city, its food and its culture was clear. The tour offered a great variety of food, with each stop accompanied by interesting explanations about the dishes and their cultural significance. It was much more than a food tour, it was a great way to explore the city, learn about its history, and experience neighbourhoods we might not otherwise have discovered. Overall, a brilliant experience and one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you, Duygu, and the Culinary Backstreets team!

Lovely tour with D. She was a great guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable of Turkish cuisine and customs. Food stops were varied and interesting. A glass of wine with the last main meal would have been nice ( just saying!). Enjoyable tour. Genevieve

Our tour with Esen was super fun, informative and such a great introduction to the local food scene! We went with our three adult children, and the tour exceeded all of our expectations. Great food, at several different kinds of restaurants, but also good background information on the culture & history of the area.

I loved the tour. Food was so good, as well as the guides knowledge. My guides name was Basak, she was very knowledgable and fun to be around. I loved it all, the foods, the walking through the streets part and the alcohol.

WOW! That is the first thought that comes to mind when I think of this amazing experience. Basak, the tour leader was exceptional! Her extreme kindness, attention to detail, expert information not only about the food we would experience but the history of Istanbul and the cultural significance of the food we sampled was 5+ stars. Simple the best food tour I have experienced. I really liked that the tour was truly focused on local, in most cases family and/or woman owned business. All of the owners we met were so nice and hospitable. I loved that Basak conducted the tour at such a leisurely pace where we never felt rushed but kept t o the scheduled timeline. Her vibrant personality and sense of humor made the experience of pure joy! She is such an asset to this company. Then there is the food, once again WOW! Beginning with Mezzes and the introduction to the Mezze cultural was delicious. Everything was so wonderful it is hard to pick a favorite but a few that deserve special mention are the family bakery where we saw the wood fire oven I am sure has been around for 100 years or more. The rice and bean restaurant. The rooftop bar that offered one of the most spectacular views of Istanbul and wonderful fare. Istanbul stole my heart in a way I never anticipated and I hope to return some day. Thank you so much Basak and Culinary backstreets for providing such a uplifting, pleasant and absolutely DELICIOUS insight to an AMAZING city. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
