Bogotá sits on a vast savannah formed by the east-Andean mountain range at an altitude of 2600 MAMSL. Although the majority of the city is rather flat, the city limits to the East with an incredible mountain range, locally known as the Cerros Orientales, that follows Bogota’s territory lines from south to north.

The mountainous landscape not only provides a profound visual but also a considerable impact on Bogota’s weather. Although these hills are always present, they are completely utterly to many locals and visitors. The tour to the waterfall was great. My sister and I wanted to do something a little more adventurous than just sight seeing around Bogota. The hike was definitely a challenge at first but once we mustered up our energy we were able to make it through. The scenery was beautiful and to see the farmers care for their livestock and crops was great. Our tour guide was Andrea. She is a wonderful person who made us feel like we went to the hike tour with a supportive friend. This tour is a must if you can physically handle the mountain area.
