Outdoor enthusiasts will love hiking along the Atlantic Forest all the way up to São Paulo's highest peak where tourists can boast the most magnificent viewpoint in town in contrast with nature.
Going to Jaraguá state park 40 minutes away from downtown São Paulo, you will get a breath of fresh air and appreciate the endless São Paulo from different perspectives amidst one of the last remnants of Atlantic Forest in town.
The hike has the main target of reaching two lookouts where tourists have a 360 degree view of São Paulo, in a 1,135 meters altitude, surrounded by an incredible landscape.
The trail has 3,600 meters, round trip, is mostly in the shade, ranging from light to medium level of difficulty, only at the end becomes steeper. The mount's summit is about 90 minutes walk away from the park’s main entrance at a slow pace.
Animals, particularly small marmosets bounce around the trees, capuchin monkeys, toucans, sloths and many others, can be seen during walks, lush landscape.

What To Expect
Explore the rainforest around Sao Paulo with this fun Jaraguá Park Hiking Experience. You'll have the chance to enjoy a perfect plan for true nature lovers! After pick-up at your hotel and set out for the Jaraguá State Park. This natural space is part of the Sao Paulo Green Belt, as the forest area surrounding the city is colloquially known. Once there, we'll start a trekking route following the Pai Zé, a path that leads to the Pico do Jaraguá. Did you know that this mountain is the highest point in Sao Paulo? Its height is 1135 meters and we'll climb to the top! During an hour and a half walk through the trails of Jaraguá, we'll have the opportunity to admire the exotic vegetation of the Brazilian rainforest. We'll also observe how the fauna of the Cerrado, the ecoregion to which the park belongs, lives. When we reach the end of the trail, we'll meet the summit of Pico do Jaraguá. There, one of the most spectacular views in all of Sao Paulo will be waiting for us - it will have been worth the effort! Finally, we'll return to the transport that will take us back to your hotel.

Rainforest and breathtaking views over São Paulo

5.00This trip was exceptional. First, you hike through the rainforest, and at the end you’re rewarded with incredible views over São Paulo. Along the way, you can spot interesting wildlife in their natural habitat, especially monkeys. My guide, Luiz, explained the animals and plants of the rainforest in great detail and helped me find monkeys hidden in the tree branches. At the top of the mountain, he also pointed out and explained which parts of São Paulo I was looking at. I was very satisfied.

5.00We had a fantastic experience on the Jaraguá Park tour, and the tour company was excellent from the start. They messaged us the day before to clearly reiterate all the details, including what to expect and what we needed to bring for the hike, which made everything smooth and stress-free. Our group of six included two vegans and four vegetarians, and our guide Rafael went above and beyond. He was incredibly thoughtful and surprised us with a variety of vegan snacks, which we truly appreciated. Rafael was an absolute sweetheart—warm, friendly, and genuinely passionate about his city. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights about how the city has grown, as well as its history, throughout the hike. His love for the area really came through and made the experience even more special. We had such a great time with him and highly recommend this tour, especially if you’re looking for a guide who is kind, attentive, and truly cares about providing a memorable experience.

5.00The tour guide Rafa was very knowledgeable about the São Paulo and the geography. We were lucky enough to encounter monkeys and other wildlife that Rafa knew the history of. The hike was a great start to the day.

5.00The weather decided to cooperate and I was thrilled since I was very much looking forward to this tour and I wasn’t disappointed! The rain forest was beautiful and it was a great break from the busy and hectic city. The hike was short and the trail was easy to navigate. The view from the top was breathtaking and even found some furry friends along the way! Rafa was an amazing guide; he made sure I was comfortable and let me set the pace for the hike. He shared stories of the area and pointed out so much I would have missed otherwise. He was a fantastic guide and I highly recommend this tour!

5.00This experience was so fun! Our guide, Luiz, was amazing and really went out of his way to make sure that we had a special experience. He took his time walking through the forest and never made us feel rushed. At the top of the hill he had even brought us snacks and drinks to enjoy! The hike itself was steep and was a challenge at points but definitely doable for someone with a moderate fitness level—especially because Luiz encouraged us to take breaks when needed. We saw many small monkeys and birds, and learned about the trees and plants in the forest. At the end of the hike, Luiz even helped us plan what we would have time to do for the remainder of our day and was so flexible to drop us off at a different location than our pickup spot. Overall, this was a great experience and we would definitely recommend :)

5.00This was a great way to spend most of a day in Sao Paulo. The hike to the top was moderately challenging but not very long. My guide Luiz was awesome and friendly. We managed to see several bird species as well as black tufted marmosets and black horned capuchin monkeys.

5.00Luiz was amazing. Five stars isn't enough! His knowledge of the area, the Atlantic Rain Forest, birds, monkeys, etc. is impressive. Luiz keeps it interesting and fun. The scenic hike itself is steep in some parts but doable if you are in reasonable shape. My wife is 59 and I am 62. We did fine.

5.00Jaraguá park was the highlight of the trip to São Paulo for me. Our guide, Rafael, was outstanding; he was knowledgeable, friendly and patient, accommodating an 85-year-old, who has done no hiking, an 84-year-old, who has done a lot of hiking, but not recently, and our 61-year old daughter, who has done little hiking, and is recovering from a broken shoulder. Accolades to Rafael! I give him ten stars!
