Cathedral Peak
We will wake you up at 5:30am with a nice cup of coffee and a ping pong ball. We will get breakfast ready and be ready to hike by 7am. The hike today is long. We aim to get you to the summit of Cathedral Peak (3,004m). The hiking distance today is about 14km with an altitude gain of just over 1000m. The most challenging part is the last section. There is a bit of scrambling and climbing on some exposed parts of the cliff to the summit. Nothing technical and we do put up safety lines for added safety. As we said...not technical, just exposed. So if you are afraid of heights, you have the option to wait at the plateau just below the summit. We aim to be on the summit by 1pm. The views are just epic!! on a clear day you will be able to see the entire northern and central Drakensberg mountain range. We should be back in Sherman cave again by 5pm. Then its dinner and chill time.

Excellent experience with Patrick, our guide. Breathtaking landscapes all along the way and good reward at the end of the 6 days hike with a beer. Totally recommend.

I highly recommend a trip to the Drakensberg. The views are incredible and it is a great way to escape Joburg, get outdoors, and get some fresh air. Patrick was such a great guide. He's pretty funny, always there to support you, can take great professional photos, will cook you dinner and breakfast, and will bring you tea and coffee to your bed. This was my first ever hiking experience in the Drakensberg. Soul adventures made organising this hike incredibly easy, and they provided guidance on everything I needed to prepare and pack for the hike. Renting the equipment I needed from them, at no extra cost, made the hike much more affordable. I will definitely be back to go on another hike with Soul Adventures!

Patrick really went the extra mile with everything. From great food and coffee, taking us to different view points and making sure everyone enjoyed the hike. They also provide you with the necessary equipment should you need it. If you want to hike the Drakensberg I would definitely recommend Soul Adventures.

Just want to give Darren and Emma and Nkuleleko my Porter the thumbs up for a pleasant and unforgettable new years trip to the highest mountain in SA.. As his article read, it's not a hike for sissies, Darren's recommendation that I book my own Porter due to me having to lug camera equipment up. That is a decision I won't regret, and will be my new norm when joining on my next trip to Meweni... Although the Baboons managed to steal our spaghetti bolonaize meal they had planned for the last night, Emma improvised and cooked the best 20min noodle meal I've ever had... I met so many new people on the trip, and although the rain persisted for a couple of days, the conversations between tents still flowed... Seeing Emma and Darren both carrying up 2 backpacks each up Judges pass made me really feel like I had no balls😔.. Two of their clients who clearly did not read the "it's a tough hike" memo were on their last straws when the husband and wife team came to the rescue...Well done guys and I'll definatly be back...
