Vardzia

Vardzia is a remarkable cave monastery complex carved into the cliffs of the Erusheti Mountain. Founded in the 12th century during the reign of Queen Tamar, Vardzia was a major religious and cultural center. The complex includes numerous rooms, churches, and tunnels, all hewn from the rock. It was designed to be a fortress and monastery, and its dramatic setting offers breathtaking views.
