Itinerary:
1. Auckland - Your tour starts in New Zealand’s largest city. As we drive out of the city your guide will not only set the scene for your adventure today but also point out and guide you past some of the city’s top highlights.
2. Waikato - Exiting Auckland we travel south through the stunning Waikato countryside, the most extensive farming area in the world, encountering beautiful scenery, mighty rivers, great photo opportunities, impressive mountains and several farm animals along the way.
3. Hobbiton Movie Set - Arriving at ‘Hobbiton’ you will board one of the big green Hobbiton buses for a two & a half hour fully guided tour of this amazing 12 acre movie set with a professional Hobbiton guide to ensure you get the most out of your visit. During your tour step into the lush pastures of the Shire, visit 44 hobbit holes, see amazing gardens, hear the secrets and stories about the making of the movies and enjoy a cold complimentary beverage at the famous Hobbiton pub ‘The Green Dragon Inn’.
4. Auckland - Sadly we must start to head north again but your day is not over with a fully guided return trip to Auckland including surprise stops. Depending on weather and timing our guides love doing other surprise stops. Maybe a scenic stop near a lake or the chance to try New Zealand ice creams, we love introducing you to local wildlife and animals. You will have to jump on the tour to see where you go!
Cancellation Policy
Terms: Tours will only run if at least 5 people have booked on the tour, we reserves the right to alter the tour due to weather or operational needs.
A full refund will be issued for cancellations made a minimum of 10 days prior to the scheduled departure time.

5.00Vicki was amazing! So friendly and full of knowledge. She made the trip a delight and a wonderful tour. I wish I was going to be in the area longer to take more tours with Vicki. I would take more tours with Vicki and Cheeky Kiwi. The price was reasonable considering how amazing the experience, best bang for the buck!

5.00We did this trip from Auckland. The van ride there and back is 2+ hours each way. We had time after arriving and before the tour started to visit the cafe and gift shop. Good food, sweet treats and friendly service - a good plan for lunch. It can be wet here. It rained non-stop during our visit. The Hobbiton facility supplied umbrellas and there were places to step out of the rain occasionally. Overall we felt comfortable. Dress appropriately - waterproof shoes with good traction are helpful. The trail had a few muddy spots, but overall the drainage was good and it was just wet. You will have an opportunity to visit th interior of one of Theo Hobbit holes. It is supremely satisfying! You can sit in chairs, lay in beds and even climb into the bathtub if you like. The Viator guide/driver we had (Ben) was fantastic! He was amusing, engaging and a good driver. The Hobbiton staff were also delightful. It seems to be a New Zealand thing and we love it!

5.00Great experience! Had a great tour day with Ben despite the rain! The team at Hobbiton was enthusiastic and welcoming and still had a great attitude even though the rain persisted. Don’t worry, they have nice umbrellas to borrow. Our guide at Hobbiton was great, explaining everything from the movies and how the Hollywood magic all worked. Highly recommend for a day trip!

5.00A great tour. Our driver and guide, Simon, was excellent. He gave us lots of useful and interesting information en route on a range of things, not just Hobbiton. The tour of Hobbiton was very well organised and well timed with enough time for photos and the right amount of information. We thoroughly enjoyed the day and would highly recommend.

5.00Most memorable day in years. From the moment we boarded our small group coach we had a magical day. Our driver/guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. She kept us safe while driving from Auckland to Hobbiton. All the while, informing us of local and cultural history. We were on time and ready for our transfer to a Hobbiton coach for our Lord of The Rings studio set tour. When we returned to our coach for the ride back to Auckland, she was ready and kept us busy on our two hour ride back. You should consider this tour if you have a day fill.
