It was the first time I was on a horse and thanks to the skills help of the guides everything went smoothly! It was really nice to discover the landscape on horseback and the viewpoint was my absolute highlight! The view over the whole green valley was just fantastic!

I was the only person in the time slot. My tour guide was waiting for me in front of the hotel before the starting time. The horse are well train and knows the route already. I just let the horse to run and does not need too much effort to control it. The ride is funny. There are 3 archelogy sites which are small but quite difficult to access by car. I think horse riding is more suitable. I saw the status with the colors. Even my tour guide does not speak English. However, he still tried to communicate to me about how to put the color on the rocks. He is very good.

The tour guide was excellent. He had a true appreciation and love of Colombia and knowledge of and concern for the preservation of St Augustin's amazing pre Columbian archeological treasures. The caveat for me was my inexperience and anxiety regarding horseback riding, and the length of the ride and amount of climbing given that we were tired following two previous strenuous hikes in high altitude. I highly recommend this tour however for folks that are at least somewhat comfortable on a horse and can do a fair amount of stairs at one site and a bit of climbing at another.

Too many good things to write in the space here. Our tour guide (Martha) was so knowledgeable and kind. We also had Joel with us, who taught us how to ride the horses and had a great knowledge of local plants and wildlife. The statues were all awe inspiring, the chaquira location being notable for the beautiful canyon it is perched on. A must-do if you're spending a few days in San Augustín!

The horseback riding tour was a highlight for me in San Augustin, sitting on a horse for around 4 hours and exploring the beautiful surroundings. The horses are also suitable for beginners and the guide was super nice and kept sharing his knowledge with us along the way. We stopped at various archaeological sites and at Chaquira, where you have a fantastic view of the canyon and Rio Magdalena.

  • Really great trip!

I wanted to share my impressions of the amazing horseback riding tour where I visited Tablon, Chaquira, Pelota and Purutal in San Agustin. It was really amazing! The views were amazing and the guides were super nice. The best thing was that we were able to experience everything on horseback - a really cool adventure. I can definitely recommend the tour if you are ever in the area!

I have done the horse tour with Pacho several times and it was absolutely amazing every time! In just half a day you can visit the archaeological sites around San Agustín, experience the breathtaking nature of the surrounding area and the highlight is undoubtedly the view of the Magdalena Canyon near La Chaquira. The horses are well cared for, suitable for both beginners and advanced riders, and you always feel safe on them. I can only highly recommend this tour if you are visiting San Agustín!
