The Cordillera Huayhuash is less popular than the Blanca, but is no less spectacular. More remote and higher than the Santa Cruz trek, the Huayhuash trek is a traverse of he mountain range made famous by the film "Touching the Void".
Though trekkers may have to brave the cold weather and rugged terrain, the reward is perhaps the best views in the entire Andes range!

Words and photos can’t reproduce the living, breathing 3D of being here. Of course it’s exhausting. Every day begins in frost and ends beneath a burning sun. Gasping uphill, treading carefully downhill. Layers damp, drying, and damp again. Yet every mountain, every lake, every gust of wind, every patch of moss, every breath—I cherish it all.
