Join us on what countless guests have called their best travel experience ever.
This is not a standard walking tour. It’s a carefully designed four-hour cultural immersion into Amsterdam — combining iconic neighbourhoods, structured history, and two curated local encounters.
You’ll explore the Jordaan, the UNESCO-listed canal belt, and the Old City Centre while learning how trade, migration, and pragmatism shaped the city. Along the way, you’ll sit down twice with real Amsterdammers whose lives reflect topics like the city is famous for. Think the bicycle culture, the Red Light District, entrepreneurship, living on water, coffee shop culture and more.
Halfway through, enjoy warm Dutch apple pie and a drink in a traditional brown café.
Limited to max 8 guests, this experience is designed as the most complete first introduction to Amsterdam — giving you context, connection, and a deeper understanding of the city.

Truly the most incredible tour. It was an authentic walking tour around the city. We learned so many facts from history, laws to the best place to eat. Alex made everything personable so we could connect with the city, her and our group. I wish I could rate this higher because it was truly incredible. Nothing like the iconic boring walking tours. We laughed, drank, ate, walked and connected. If you do anything in Amsterdam, it should be this!!

This tour ended up being the number one highlight of my entire trip! Alexandra was incredible. She was thoughtful, kind, and deeply authentic. At the beginning of the tour she shared the story behind why she started Humans of Amsterdam, and it honestly brought a tear to my eye. You can feel how much heart went into creating this experience. What makes this tour special is the perspective. Instead of seeing Amsterdam only through buildings and landmarks, you see it through the lives and stories of the people who live there and interact with the locals. It completely changed how I experienced the city. The conversations were real, moving, and at times very powerful. It felt personal in a way that most tours never achieve. If you are visiting Amsterdam, do not miss this tour. I cannot recommend it enough!! Thank you Alexandra!

This tour is an easy walk, but there are two 90 minute periods of walking and standing. There were only nine people in the group which made for a more fulfilling experience. This was the most interesting city tour we have ever taken. Meeting and hearing from local residents really opened the city up in a different way. Aryeh is a knowledgeable guide and storyteller who presented a balanced picture of the history and culture of Amsterdam.

The Humans of Amsterdam tour did a lot to flesh out my understanding of Amsterdam from it's beginnings into the present day. My wife and my adult child had fun meeting some of the locals as well as people from three other countries taking the tour. Our guide, Aryeh, was a great story teller! He did a superb job guiding us safely through the streets and helping us to have brief conversations with the locals. We stopped at a "brown pub" (historical significance) and enjoyed some excellent apple pie. Aryeh did a professional job introducing the red light district which delivered good insights as to the realities of the area. In the end, we received a much more nuanced view of this storied city. We'll done!

Great way to get acquainted with the history of the city and personally meet long time residents (without doubt, the highlight of the tour). Alexandra was very quick to respond and so accommodating of my last minute request and Ariyeh was a wonderful tour guide.

Aryeh was great. He made the 4 hour tour fly by. This walking tour was absolutely fantastic! Aryeh was knowledgeable, funny, and passionate about Amsterdam’s history; we learned so much while exploring charming streets and hidden gems we never would’ve found on our own. The pace was perfect, and the stories really brought the city to life. I’d highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to experience the real Amsterdam beyond the usual tourist spots!

Absolutely loved this experience. It felt more like walking through real stories than just a city tour. Our guide shared Amsterdam not through buildings, but through people — their lives, struggles, humor, and dreams. It reminded me that every corner of this city holds a heartbeat. Beautifully curated, inspiring, and deeply human. Highly recommend if you want to feel Amsterdam, not just see it. 🤍

This tour was truly unforgettable. Our guide was kind, attentive, and answered every question with such care. What made it so special was getting the chance to meet locals and hear their stories, which gave me a much deeper, more personal understanding of both their lives and the history of the city. It didn’t feel like just another tour, it felt like being welcomed into the heart of the community. I can’t recommend it enough; it’s a must for anyone visiting. Just be prepared for a good amount of walking, it’s worth every step.

We had an excellent experience on the tour. There was a perfect mix of walking, history, food and drink. We also stopped and got to talk to several locals who all had very interesting backgrounds. Aryeh was one of the best guides we've ever had and I would highly recommend to request him as he really made the tour and was a damn wonderful storyteller.
