Fairbanks
As our home base, Fairbanks is one of the best locations in the world for Northern Lights viewing — located directly under the Aurora Oval. Each night, our SkyChase™ tour departs from Fairbanks and uses the Lights-for-Life™ Formula to determine the optimal location outside the city for clear skies and strong activity.
Murphy Dome
Murphy Dome is one of the highest accessible points in the Fairbanks area and occasionally used on clear-sky nights for its panoramic views and low light pollution. It’s a prime example of the remote high-elevation locations our team accesses while chasing the Aurora.

Absolutely amazing trip, everything we had hoped for on our first day in Fairbanks. The aurora cooperated and put on a spectacular show after midnight or so. Our guides were professional and very knowledgeable, just ask a question and you will get a thorough answer about anything (not just aurora questions) ,from moose habits to locating familiar constellations at these high latitudes. Reindeer sausage was pretty good, too!

The lights were beautiful! The crew was amazing and got great pictures of us and the lights. We didn't chase lights. We were in one spot. Maybe an extra fire pit for that many people would be good. Also cover the dash lights for those staying in the vehicles so they can see the lights better. Thank you for the adventure!

We loved our tour and this company . Nicole at the office was always helpful , the guides were courteous and knowledgeable!! Andrew picked us up right on time , shared his knowledge about Alaska and the aurora . On site we enjoyed campfires and reindeer sausage and the best part - a non stop Aurora display for almost three hours !!! Thanks team!

WOW. What a great experience with Aurora in Alaska. They picked us up at our hotel and brought us directly UNDER the northern lights. From the time we walked off the bus to the end the light show was spectacular. Fire pits, chairs, Borealis bar with hot chocolate and coffee, sausages for roasting over the fire. Photographers were great we took bunches of photos. Excellent service. Would definitely recommend to others and go again without a doubt.

First of all, we requested a last minute change due to weather and in less than an hour received an email we had been moved from the waitlist to the tour. They provided transportation to/from our AirBnB with a great notification system for letting us know the exact arrival time. The original location was not the best for viewing so we went to a second location. It was stunning. So they really do chase the lights. The set-up includes a small heated trailer they serve the food and beverages from and you can go inside to warm up and get a tripod for videos/photos. There are several fire pits with chairs available. That area is well-lit, they have music playing and there are bathroom facilities. This particular location did not have a heated bathroom but I understand some do. They have multiple staff taking photos throughout the entire night. The vans we traveled in remained running with the heat on so you could pop-in and warm up whenever necessary. Yes, it is cold but with the proper gear it wasn’t miserable. The only real challenge was trying to take photos and having to take my glove off — I had about 10 seconds before my hand was miserable. The experience was beyond worth the minimal discomfort. After the event you will receive all the photos and a video of the entire night. The staff were incredible. Dre was our driver, he was engaging and fun. Everyone was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly they love what they do as they were as excited as we were every time the lights popped off. Truly a once in a life time experience — worth every penny. Recommendations: do whatever you can to keep your feet warm — that’s the only body part I couldn’t keep warm. When you get in the van for the ride, remove your coat so you do overheat and arrive sweaty.

Very impersonal, very large crowd. Pre-pickup communications were done via an internet app so no direct person-to-person contact. When picked up up in the minibus, we were two of about 14 other clients. Then we went to an area and waited for four more minibuses. All five minibuses then convoyed together to an open area where there were some fire-pits and an enclosed trailer where they had hotdogs/sausages/ coffee/ hot chocolate. That is why I am giving them a 2-star instead of a 1-star. We were two of about 30-50 persons with only one "professional" photographer. Then, after nearly a week we got back the photos which looked like they were taken with an iphone. To get high quality photos we would need to purchase each photo at $20.00 per download, despite us already paying for the tour which was to include photography. There was an outhouse which had a propane heater which lasted about an hour. This tour was so impersonal that when we used the outhouse, one person would watch guard to make sure they didn't leave us behind. Definitely stay away from this group. The impersonal nature of this tour really detracted from the enjoyment of viewing the aurora.

We booked this aurora tour several weeks in advance. The day of our reservation was cloudy and heavy snow with nt good viewing forecasted. SkyChasers contacted us early in the morning with an option to change our reservation to a different night and we are SO thankful for this opportunity! The alternate date provided for much better (clearer) night skies and an incredible aurora display! We ended up being part of a 6 van caravan from this company, but were driven 1.5 hours away from Fairbanks to a private dark sky location. The field and been packed down, fires were burning by the time we arrived. They had multiple photographers to take many personal photos of everyone throughout the night. The reindeer sausage (size of a bratwurst) and hot drinks were a delicious and welcome treat. The location we were at had wide open 360 views and an outhouse...which was handy given we were outside for about 3 hours before heading back. We haven't received our photos yet, but we were very pleased with the overal professional experience! For those less interested in auroras or photography the snacks and warm fires and heated vans provided plenty of ways to still enjoy an evening. Catching Auroras is part science (predicting weather and viewing patterns) and part luck....we lucked out and had our best night of viewing (in an entire 1 week stay) with this company
