Fairbanks
As our home base, Fairbanks is one of the best locations in the world for Northern Lights viewing — located directly under the Aurora Oval. Each night, our SkyChase™ tour departs from Fairbanks and uses the Lights-for-Life™ Formula to determine the optimal location outside the city for clear skies and strong activity.
Murphy Dome
Murphy Dome is one of the highest accessible points in the Fairbanks area and occasionally used on clear-sky nights for its panoramic views and low light pollution. It’s a prime example of the remote high-elevation locations our team accesses while chasing the Aurora.

Sky Chase updated on the conditions of Sky and offer many options either reschedule, cancel, or wait and see. We don’t have any options but go ahead with our original plan. They worked overtime (5pm-1am) just to take us to where there is clear sky. We didn’t see a clear definition of Aurora, but it showed green on the camera screen. We really appreciate their efforts and will definitely join them next time we come back to Fairbanks.

This was a fun experience, we went out for New Year’s Eve and had a great time. They had a camp set up with fires and a heated trailer you can jump in if you need to warm your feet. They were also taking photos of anyone who wanted to jump in. You can also get a tripod to hold your phone but it will be more difficult to operate simply cause the metal gets cold (shocker). They also have some food and hot drinks for everyone to enjoy as well as seats for you to enjoy the fires. The trip for me was pretty short as I was the last person picked up. The lights themselves can be unpredictable but also vibrant out of nowhere. Be patient and open to new things.

The word SkyChase makes one think there will be lots of driving to different areas. We actually go to one spot and hang out. As it turned out…we had spectacular lights, the food, beverages, fires and fireworks made for a really fun time!

The guide was nice and provides good treatment to us. The campfire was excellent for setting the vibe for a happy coming New Year. The north light appeared several times, and our camera remained operational even in such severe cold temperatures. The whole experience was excellent.

Incredible, the staff were over prepared and provided much comfort for such extreme weather. We had marshmallows by the fire, sausage (even vegan), and the pictures were really of superior quality. The lights were just stunning, great experience!

Amazing experience. The mobile lodge with wood stove kept us warm while we would wait for activity, then could quickly step outside and see the northern lights when they were most active. Our driver Tony was knowledgeable and friendly. The hotel pickup was easy and convenient. Definitely recommend.

The staff was extremely professional and kept us informed at all times, clearly showing that their top priority was for us to see the Northern Lights. The guide, the photographers, and the entire team were incredibly attentive and caring. If you want to live the best possible experience with a professional and dedicated staff, this is definitely the right choice.

Well above expectations in both Aurora viewing itself but also in how attentive and knowledgeable the staff was. The trailer they have set is a game changer in the cold weather. Note we were at -40 degrees. The firepits also helped stay warm. We were able to borrow tripods from them and get help with camera settings. I would take another trip with them in a heartbeat.
