Fairbanks
As our home base, Fairbanks is one of the best locations in the world for Northern Lights viewing — located directly under the Aurora Oval. Each night, our SkyChase™ tour departs from Fairbanks and uses the Lights-for-Life™ Formula to determine the optimal location outside the city for clear skies and strong activity.
Murphy Dome
Murphy Dome is one of the highest accessible points in the Fairbanks area and occasionally used on clear-sky nights for its panoramic views and low light pollution. It’s a prime example of the remote high-elevation locations our team accesses while chasing the Aurora.

Our guide Andrew picked us up at the hotel around 10:00 pm. On the way to the site he talked about Alaska, the wildlife, and a number of facts that were fun to learn. We stopped on the way to the camp site and saw the Northern Lights. Once we got to the site there was a mobile lodge with hot coffee and sausages to eat. Around 12:30 am we saw a tremendous amount of activity as the sky lit up. Andrew drove us back around 2:30 am. This was an activity that everyone needs to do. Aurora in Alaska guides helped make this an outstanding excursion.

The guides are excellent - knowledgeable about the aurora phenomenon, highly skilled photographers, and very customer-oriented. They share their photos with you, so you can concentrate on enjoying the moment. The tour will stop at a point of interest along the way. Pickup and drop-off were smooth. The heated trailer, sausages, and snacks round out the experience. Highly recommended.

Wow, the BEST!! Our guide, Andrew, knew how to find the lights and took us to three different spots where we saw the magical lights! He and the team were the most professional of all the tours we took while in Fairbanks. At the first stop they took our photos with the lights behind us, had a warming trailer, and outdoor fires. The guides talked to each other with walkie talkies about what they were seeing and moved us onto a second even better view! Finally, on the way home, Andrew spotted the conditions were right in a third spot so we stopped agian for more lights! This was a bucket list item and the team excelled!

Absolutely great! Our guide&driver&photographer Andrew was fantastic and made the 45min drive really fun. Other staff (whose names I unfortunately forgot to take down) are also super friendly; very helpful in photos, reindeer sausage, fireplace, etc. The mobile lodge was super useful. Kept us super warm! Will definitely recommend

You will be so well taken care of. Yes, it gets kinda long as you get closer to 3am, but you came to see the Aurora, right? Don’t miss it and go with Sky Chase!

This was one the best experience we had. Our guide Nick was able to capture beautiful pictures of the Aurora. This tour has a unique concept of mobile lodge where you can munch on cookies and hot cocoa along with cooking your own reindeer sausage over as camp fire. Would recommend 10/10.

Amazing experience. Picked up in a beautiful shuttle and on time. Went to the main sight of the night. There the shuttle stayed on and warm for everyone to use as needed. There was another truck pulled trailer already waiting for us with food, a coffee/hot cocoa station, bathroom and warming area. Three fire pit with chairs around them were also ready upon arrival. As we waited for the lights we cooked our sausages on a stick over the fire. There were shoved, light walkways around the area to explore and take pictures. All of the guide/photographers were accommodating and friendly. And the grand finally was amazing. The lights started with a streak across the sky, separated and swirled. It was absolutely mesmerizing. When we were done there we traveled to another location no lights there and by then we were all exhausted. Arrived back to my hotel around 3 am.
