Fairbanks
As our home base, Fairbanks is one of the best locations in the world for Northern Lights viewing — located directly under the Aurora Oval. Each night, our SkyChase™ tour departs from Fairbanks and uses the Lights-for-Life™ Formula to determine the optimal location outside the city for clear skies and strong activity.
Murphy Dome
Murphy Dome is one of the highest accessible points in the Fairbanks area and occasionally used on clear-sky nights for its panoramic views and low light pollution. It’s a prime example of the remote high-elevation locations our team accesses while chasing the Aurora.

My wife and I did an aurora borealis chasing tour with SkyChase, and it was an amazing and unforgettable experience. Our guide, Mr. Andre, was kind, patient, and very supportive. He took us to two viewing spots, and we were lucky to see beautiful aurora displays at both locations, each with a different and dramatic view. We spent about around 5 hours in stunning snowy, icy surroundings. Mr. Andre and the other guides took lots of great photos for us, which made the experience even more special. They also had many wooden fire-burn warm vans and provided snacks, cookies, tea, and coffee, so we could stay comfortable and enjoy the trip. I did three different aurora tours, and this one was uncomparable-the best, especially for photography, we are super happy with tgere service. I highly recommend SkyChase to anyone looking for a memorable northern lights experience. -Raja and Sneha

Outstanding. Timed close to equinox and new moon. Colder than usual even for Fairbanks but they had a warming area and fire pits. Incredible Northern Lights.

Before one goes out into the cold dark night, please make sure one has all the winter gears, especially gloves & socks. Also take a good long nap before the adventure.

When we planed a trip to Fairbanks, the main purpose was to watch Aurora and take some photos from the basic skills that I have and an iPhone. We stayed at Aurora villa and pikes lodge tried to watch Aurora for first 3 nights and were not successful. So we booked this tour and it was a best thing we decided to spend money on. We met with heated pickup van at our lobby. They took us to this secluded field about 30 mins drive. There was fire, another warming hut, music, food, free tripod rental, restroom, coffee, warm drinks and photography stations with amazing photographers ready to take as many photos as you want with aurora. It was freezing so we kept going in and out of our van but photographers were relentless. Leo, was especially nice and gave us good photo advice even when he was clearly so cold from taking those photos for the group. They kept swapping batterie’s every so often due to sever cold draining them so fast but all photo stations were constantly capturing best views. To our surprise their camera captured smallest detail in Aurora.

Be patient. The absolute best activity came the last 45 minutes. Guides and group participants were friendly.

I’d give this team a solid 10/10! We had an amazing time, and the whole Aurora Chasing event was super well-organized. Our guide, Hunter, was super friendly and made sure we had a good time. The photographers were also friendly and enthusiastic, and we got a ton of great shots, both individually and as a group. There were hot beverages, a heated room and bonfires to warm up incase you get cold. They also provided us with heat packs and tripods incase you wanted to take pictures on your phones. Overall, my friends and I had an incredible time, and I highly recommend this team to anyone visiting Alaska for Aurora chasing.
