This route is a must for history lovers and fans of Greek mythology.
We begin by cycling to the prehistoric settlement of Skarkos, an important archaeological site that reveals life in the Cyclades over 4,000 years ago.
After exploring the area and walking a short traditional path, we continue through scenic farmland toward the Tomb of Homer, perched in a quiet, panoramic location in northern Ios. According to tradition, this is where the legendary poet found his final resting place.
As we ride along country roads, surrounded by olive trees and fig groves, your guide will bring history to life with personal stories and local legends passed down through generations.
This tour offers a moving blend of ancient past and myth, all set within the serene natural beauty of the Ios landscape.

During our visit to Homer’s tomb, George traveled to the magical world of the epic poet, making a historical approach to his time, thanks to his excellent knowledge of ancient civilization. The teachers of the Gymnasium and High School of Ios thank you George for your friendly mood and your desire to guide us through the beautiful paths of Ios!

5.00My friends and I traveled to Greece for the first time this summer, and George made our trip a memorable one! It was a pleasure to be able to see the entirety of Ios while learning about the history and authentic culture of the island. If you like getting active and learning about the places you are vacationing at- this would be the perfect tour for you! George even led us to his garden where we picked figs and learned about all the hard work that goes into sustaining Greek agriculture. It does require quite a bit of energy, so be prepared by hydrating and eating before you go!

5.00Really enjoyed our e-bike tour with George. The bikes were great, very easy to use with ample power and battery to make the climbs on the route a breeze. Scenery was beautiful throughout, but it was George’s local knowledge and story telling that made the trip so enjoyable. Great way to see some of the island and to learn some of the island’s fascinating history.
