I did the tour with Mr. Abbas, who had courtesy, excellent knowledge and contagion. I recommend to every tourist to see this presentation of the real life of Zanzibar and its reef, which gives life to its people for years!

I stayed at a hotel in Jambiani in early October. It had everything a tourist could want! A beautiful, wide beach with white sand as fine as flour, sunshine, and a warm ocean. In Jambiani, the beach gently slopes into the ocean. The tides are high. It's a good spot for kitesurfing. Remember to bring water shoes with good grip – at low tide, it's easy to step on a sea urchin. Sunscreen with SPF 50 and a hat are essential. Antibacterial wipes are also useful. There are plenty of touts on the beach offering various services or trying to sell you something. They're persistent, but if you exchange a few words with them and firmly state you don't want anything, they'll leave you alone.

It was really interesting and fun to learn about different Swahili cultures from the locals. The tour was well organized and felt respectful to the locals and their space. I met with a traditional healer, weaver and a lovely Swahili woman that showed me how to get coconut milk from a coconut! I highly recommend this trip to anyone that’s looking for an opportunity to genuinely interact with locals in Jambiani.
