Recoleta
The second most-beautiful book shop in the world: an old theater that was converted into a book shop. A prominent British periodical named it second in its 2008 list of the World’s Ten Best Bookshops. Just stepping inside this former grand theater will take your breath away. Impressive buildings with a variety of architectural styles (including art nouveau).
Balvanera
A massive Victorian structure that many people stop and look at in wonder: A fantastic palace of more than 300,000 lustrous, multicolored tiles and glazed and enamel bricks. An incredible large shopping mall that used to be the city’s central wholesale fruit and vegetable market. The original art deco building & structure remain largely untouched. The area of Carlos Gardel – the most famous tango singer in history- : House facades and shops covered in “fileteado” artwork. A creative art, one-of-a-kind, full of vivid colored ornaments and symmetries that became a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The style of painting associated with Buenos Aires that has much to do with tango and that have been part of the culture of the Porteños (inhabitants of Buenos Aires) since the beginnings of the 20th century. . Also, expect to view creative street art and murals painted by local artists, a tango clothes and shoes store, for a most memorable experience. This tour includes uncommonly visited city landmarks that deviate from your typical tourist locations. Because we enter several buildings that we visit, you will get an extra personal experience of each place that most large walking tours won’t be able to offer. No visit to Buenos Aires would be complete without a visit to these fabulous places!

We took this tour on our first day in Buenos Aires, and I'm so glad that we started off this way. Elisa has an amazing ability to tailor her wealth of local, historical and architectural knowledge to her audience, and was endlessly patient with our many questions. We absolutely recommend this experience to anyone wanting to learn more about the people and places who shaped Buenos Aires through an unexpected lens.

This was a WONDERFUL tour and absolutely a great highlight of my time in BA. Elisa showed us the city through her eyes, architecture, art, history, culture, tango, all while using her own unique humour and personal flair. What I liked about this tour so much is that is was real and unique, not a standard tour you can find anywhere, this was something very special and personal. You can feel the care and effort that Elisa puts into the tour as she shows you her hometown. If you want to understand more about BA, see things you wouldn't normally and have a more local experience - don't miss this tour! Absolutely the best and such a delightful way to spend an afternoon in BA :) Thank you so much Elisa!!!

Elisa is an absolute joy. She is smart, friendly, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable about Buenos Aires and Argentina. This was our second time doing a tour with Elisa and we will surely do it again. If you want to get out of the tourist traps and really see BA, you can’t do better. Enjoy!

The "Off the Beaten Path" tours are by far the best ways to learn about and explore Buenos Aires. We signed up for 2 of Elisa's tours, and when we return we will sign up for any tour that she offers. In addition to her expert knowledge of the local culture and history, Elisa's personable demeanor made the experience very memorable.

Elisa was a fabulous tour guide. I took 2 different tours with her. One was a solo tour on Tango and Architecture. Next one was in The Foot Steps of Dictators and Auschwitz of Argentina. Both my tours were very moving and life perception changing for me. She answered all my questions and the walking was very easy. Also DRIVER WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL. He did a great job shuttled us to different locations. The tours I feel are well organized and good price. Elisa also gave me recommendations on other sites to see & do while in Buenos Aires. Restaurant suggestions too. Also Thank you for your time and sharing such personal experiences that were very moving for me. English was excellent and your microphone was great in small group. Also I can say I would never of seen these locations without your Amazing tours. I will never forget you !!

My friend and I had already spent a few days in the city so I was curious about Jewels Off the Beaten Path. When Elisa started her walking tour with a bookstore in an old theater, El Ateneo, I knew this tour was for me. Additionally, she showed us many types of architecture used in the city. The Palace of Waters was breathtaking. If I hadn't done this walking tour with Elisa, I would have never appreciated the beauty and rich history of her city. She also answered my many questions. This tour is truly a jewel and I would highly recommend Elisa.
