What To Expect
Kaikoura
We'll commence a comfortable and scenic journey from Christchurch, lasting approximately 2.5 to 3 hours one way. The route will lead you through the North Canterbury region of the South Island, ultimately arriving in Kaikoura, one of New Zealand's foremost whale-watching destinations. Kaikoura is internationally renowned for its whale-watching excursions, particularly the opportunity to observe sperm whales. In addition to the whale-watching experience, there is the option to embark on a brief coastal walk to view seals basking on the rocks, as well as a short scenic stroll through the forested areas along the river. You may also enjoy the picturesque sight of dolphins in the ocean. Upon boarding your boat, you will be accompanied by expert guides who will provide in-depth commentary on the town's whaling history and highlight the region's rich marine life throughout your Kaikoura whale-watching cruise.

5.00Kaikōura is a fantastic destination for marine life lovers. Seeing huge whales, cute seals, and playful dolphins and fishing along the shore was an unforgettable experience. It was such a pleasure to visit beautiful Kaikōura and watch its incredible marine life up close. The scenic drive made the journey even more exciting, with stunning views along the way. Our tour guide, Thomas, was lovely, welcoming, and made the trip even more enjoyable.

5.00Steve was an incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating guide. He went beyond the planned itinerary and added several extra stops along the way, allowing us to experience some truly stunning scenery. We took a helicopter ride for whale watching and visited a seal colony, which was an amazing opportunity to see marine wildlife up close. Highly recommend Steve and the Kiwi Adventures team!

5.00Kaikoura is a must-visit place if you are travelling around the South Island. It’s a truly beautiful destination with stunning ocean views and incredible marine life. One of the highlights for us was trying the famous crayfish! Dave is an excellent tour guide and a very professional driver. He made us feel safe throughout the journey and provided warm hospitality. It’s a nice and easy drive from Christchurch, and the whole experience was totally worth it.
